Ed Quimson @ The Mandarin Hotel

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

No, he won’t have a concert there. But he will just have a limited food engagement with the Mandarin Hotel.

Pasos del Tiempo (A Walk Through Time) at Paseo De Uno at Mandarin Hotel — May 26 to 31. A Filipino-Spanish dishes from Chef Ed Quimson’s kitchen.

Are you wanting to see what we had? I’m sure you’ve seen them on my HB’s blog already so I might bore you to death. Anyway, this is my take on the food we had and I want to write it down as I can still remember it now.

I love preserved mango especially the liquid that comes with it. My mom would usually make one at home and I always sip the soup after munching all those preserved mangoes. So when Chef Ed was explaining what the Dulce de Santol was, I immediately missed having those preserved mangoes and can’t wait to have a taste of the santol. Another food that reminded me was the preserved santol we buy in Ongpin. Hmmm….I missed those crunchy bites! So, I just can’t wait to have this treat.

Yoghurt Treat — I Love Berries!

I Love Berries-3

I Love Berries — Froyo is what they are best known in the US. This was my 2nd time to have this frozen treat and I enjoyed every minute of it.  It didn’t really taste like it was yoghurt because they had to tweak the taste a little bit to the sweeter side to suit its market - Filipinos.  Aidan would have loved this one.  What I liked about ILB is their fresh fruit toppings.  Nothing beats the fresh picks of the day.  Would’ve loved to try some of their flavors but we were already running late.  I do hope I get to chance upon them in birthday parties.  I doubt if I’d meet them in bazaars because I rarely go to one anymore ever since my schedule got tied up with the boys.

I like both the Cold Spoon and I Love Berries BUT I love the taste of Haven Frozen Yoghurt because they have a flavored frozen yoghurt.  We tried the strawberry flavored (I’m sure it was not fresh) froyo and I loved it!  Hope ILB would do a variant on their froyo so as not to only have that boring white froyo.

Would you love to include this as part of your kid’s food entourage?  Do contact them by visiting their site: iloveberries4.multiply.com for more information on their party package.

Hooters’ Chicken Wings

Monday, May 5th, 2008

It was already past 10pm when we went to Hooters along San Miguel by the Bay.  My HubbyBubbly was so excited that I had to give in.  I was also curious what the fuss is all about.  Now I know.

Hooters Manila-32

Welcome to Hooters Manila!

Hooters Manila-12

We ordered the bestseller — Chicken Wings.  We chose the naked wings over the breaded ones.  We were supposed to get the 5pc chicken wings since we came from a dinner at Purple Feet.  We just wanted to taste their wings but when I saw that it was only a 100 peso difference.  We ordered the 10pc.  We had more people coming it too.

Taste was nothing special, it was chicken wings.  Plain and simply wimgs.  Lacking in presentation too.   Best to eat immediately.

I have nothing more to share since that is the only food we got.

Have you been to other Hooters? How do we fare from the other Asian Hooters?  Do you like the food at Hooters?

Make Your Own Havaianas (MYOH) 2008

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

havs

Had to borrow this from the provided photo set of Havaianas Flipping For the Beach Contest.

Come and join the crowd for another MAKE YOUR OWN HAVAIANAS.

May 2-5, 2008 @ the Rockwell Tent

Opening Hours: Mall Hours

********************

This is a first time for me. I had to change my design several times before deciding, THIS IS IT! But even until now that I have my MYOH, I kept on thinking of new combinations of my sole to strap to the embellishments. Urgh! No more thinking please because you are already wearing it lady! I can go back today and tomorrow and on Monday (they’ve extended this because they anticipate that some people would be out for a long weekend holiday) just to satisfy my designer in me but no more please. One is enough for me. Somebode’ stop me!! :D

I’ve also thought if it was worth getting one for AD but practical side in me said NO. So, it is a NO. Aside from the price for the limited AD would be wearing it (and passing unto JX), I don’t like AD to wear the Y thong flipflops wherein his biggie toe and the other toes would have a space in between. So, there.

And oh! They have this new strap thing that you can put on your Havaianas, ladies :) I’ll try to post my Havaianas but knowing me, I might post it after the event. :( But hopefully, you can visit Rockwell this weekend, to see the entire event by yourself and mabe convince yourself to get a pair for you!

Ta-ta! Happy Shopping!
