Old Chinatown Kopitiam
Wednesday, April 9th, 2008All along, I thought this Kopitiam only serves coffee and some snack foods like Kopi Roti. I was wrong! They serve food all day long! From rice, noodles, soup, veggies, hawker’s classic and best food selection, and not to forget the never-ending kaya toast variations.

Jumbo Siomai (P98). AD’s choice when he saw the photo on the menu. Closest thing to a dumpling. He loves hakaw (shrimp dumpling) and can eat 2 orders of it just by himself. Yes, all by himself. I miss my ama’s siomai. Just lean pork. *Sigh*
My Mother’s Garden
Tuesday, April 8th, 2008Malu Veloso and LetLet Veloso? Sounds familiar to me…brings back memories of my high school days. They are the famous mother-daughter fashion designer during my time. Nope, I didn’t have my gown made by them because I have a tight budget to follow. I just hear their names through my classmates who had their gowns made by the Velosos.

They were a hit for teens ( and bride-to-be) and so, I wasn’t surprised that they had a store in Forbes which sadly, I no longer see whenever I passby Sanctuario de San Antonio. I had wondered whatever happened to them. I know for a fact that Vicky, sister of LetLet, has opened a cooking school just for the kids named Tiny Kitchen. And now, I know what they have been doing…they have opened their home to serve by-reservations only lunch and dinner aside from continuing their passion to design and make dresses/ gowns.
We went to My Mother’s Garden so we weren’t able to appreciate the beauty of the place especially the garden as Ivan had when they ate lunch there. The dining area was surrounded with plants, they even had different kinds of orchids and a fishpond. (On a side note: Do bring an insect repellant with you especially when you are with your kids.) A good conversation subject when you are with company.
My Mother’s Garden serve Fresh Fruit Juice, Fresh Green Salad, Oil and Garlic Dressing and Assorted Dessert Tarts together with the set menus.
Fresh green salad with sour cream and oil & garlic dressing. I liked the whipped sour cream dressing better than the oil & garlic one.

For the Rainy Days
Sunday, April 6th, 2008Save this for the next rainy season! I found this together with the Hello Kitty umbrella at Shopwise supermarket and thought to post this. Funny, but it was not easy looking for Hello Kitty things nowadays except maybe at Gift Gate. I would usually find Barbie, Dora the Explorer and even Barney but hardly, any Hello Kitty or any Sanrio characters. So better keep your Hello Kitty things, you might get something out of it.
Price: P199.75 (approximately $5)
