MIHCA - Joins the BandWagon!

When I knew that we were going to Times Plaza along UN Avenue for dinner, that made me wonder.  There?!  Are you sure?  I knew the place because it was near my former office and it’s near Manila Doctor’s Hospital where my HubbyBubbly was hospitalized when he went for Milo’s 42km Marathon last July 2007.

You would be surprised to see this at the basement.  Valet parking only.  Space is limited so this is not the place for me to drive.  They have these car lifts but they still get easily full especially on office hours.

Anyway, up we went the escalator and uhum!  Presenting the Restaurant!  This is where the MIHCA students will be showing off what they had learned.  They will be trained for four-(4) months and are assured that they will be cooks not chef.  For a tuition fee amounting to more or less P100k, this is not bad.  Students here are not the usual rich kids but people who would want to learn from cleaning to cooking.  Studying here does not assure you a job at Magsaysay Shipping Lines.  Well, you can try.

What I liked about this is that the students get to eat what they had prepared.  Worth it, don’t you think?  If they finish ahead (before they open for lunch and dinner to public), they will have the first sitting.  If not, they have to wait until there is no more customer dining in the restaurant.  Buhuuhuu…

Mushroom Salad.  HubbyBubbly didn’t like it, I didn’t either.  But we had to finish this off.  Do not waste food.

Cauliflower Ginger Soup.  I would’ve loved this soup except it had too much ginger in it.  Try to lessen it so AD would also like it.  He loves soup but this didn’t pass.

Hungarian Goulash.  Everybody agreed that they liked this one.  Feeling healthy.

The fish was the ONLY winner for us.  Paella Valencia was too bland. I thought that the sauce on the fish was cheezwhiz.  I was wrong.   Can’t remember but we love it.

Beef Skewer with Potatoes.  When I saw this, I knew HubbyBubbly wouldn’t be happy with the serving size.  And he didn’t.  I asked Chef Popit if this comes with only ONE stick.  Yes, one stick only.  Beef wasn’t too appetizing either, it was tough!  The potato was nicely cooked.

Upon seeing the desserts, pufftt!  I was very disappointed.  It was just placed on the plate and just like that.  It looked so out of place.

Another dessert on the plate.  Carrot cake.  Cold carrot cake.

Verdict:  There is still room for improvement.  They change their menu on a regular basis.  I may visit them in due time.
