Events @ SM Science Discovery Center

SM Mall of Asia is one of the latest fun places to bring your kids. Aside from its IMAX moviehouse and the newly developed San Miguel Bay Walk, SM MoA has housed Science Discovery Center in their mall!

So many schools have been booking their field trips to this center ever since it has opened its door to the public last October 2007. Even companies grabbed this opportunity to conduct their events here where they can utilize the events room for FREE when they get avail of the SDC corporate group tour depending on their group size. You can even celebrate your child’s birthday here! This would definitely be a treat to your kid and to your guests! I’m sure everyone who had stepped into the SDC would vouch that this is one entertainment center for individuals and the family.

COLDs Rush

Friday, January 18th, 2008

We have been invaded by the colds virus 2 weeks ago. Not even JX was spared! I was worried so I informed our pedia, Dra. V and was advised to apply salinase nasal drops into his nose. Of course, it was just but natural to trust your pediatrician since she is the doctor of kids and has the experience with the appropriate medications for all kids ages. Not to mention that JX was only a little over a month old! You would do anything to keep newborns from getting any kind of illness because they will surely have a hard time with it especially if it is a cold.

It was my first time to use salinase nasal drops even if JX is my second child already. I was hesitant to use it before with AD because I feel it would “invade” the baby because you would insert something into your nose other than your hand (hmm…aha! gotcha! hahaha) covered with tissue. And if it is really, really safe for newborn babies. I did some research for more information on this for my peace of mind. Accidentally, I came across this website of Pedia Pharmacy Inc., the drug company, who coincidentally manufactured the salinase nasal drops my pediatrician prescribed for JX. Cool! Price was the same when I bought the drops at Mercury Drug.  Coincidentally, I also found that you can also make your own salinase!  This is cheaper!  Next time, I’ll have colds, I’ll surely try this homemade solution (2nd answer)!  (Hve you tried it? Did it work?)

Another Pampanga Tour Awaits You This February

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Did you miss The Ultimate Kapampangan Tour last 15 December 2007 and regretting that you weren’t able to join?  If your answer is YES to both questions, well, I have good news to you…they will be having another Pampanga tour (Up, Up and Away!!! Huffing, Puffing and Pumping in Pampanga) this 10 February 2008…They will be offering a different tour this time because it involves gawking at the giant hot-air balloons at the 12th annual Philippine Balloon Fiesta.  Not only that,  you would have the chance to conquer and hike over the mystic and majestic Mount Arayat.  Isn’t that just soo exciting?  Lastly, they’ll visit Abe’s farm, owned by Larry Cruz of Cafe Adriatico!  If only, I can join them this time..but I cannot because I have to take care of my baby JX.  Maybe some other time!  I’m sure they are brewing up some more tours to showcase the beauty of the Philippines.

GB5: Classic Confections

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

Did you know that Classic Confections have opened a Makati branch last December 2007?  Well, now you know!

Ever since Classic Confections joined the Pink Kitchen event last August 2007, I have been wanting to try out her Nono’s Chocolate Oblivion.  And now is my chance to do so because they decided to be nearer our place!…Yummy is all I can say!

Classic Confection-36

Nono’s Chocolate Oblivion (P145/ P895). Two light layers of chocolate filled with whipped chocolate cream and walnut praline bits.  This was so rich that we had to bring the other half of the small cake home.  But it didn’t last, I ate the other half the moment I got home.  I couldn’t resist it.  I loved the way the walnut praline bits mixed its way into the cake as I munch and savor the cake.  No way, am I going to get slimmer with all these I’m taking in…

Classic Confection-39

This is another one of my favorite…First saw on Yummy November issue and I can’t stop thinking of it until now.  Alas, I’ve tasted it! It tastes good that I’m having my 3rd serving of 100 grams in a span of 2 weeks! Oh my!  They call it Almond Crunch! Toffee candy ,ade with whole roasted almonds and semi-sweet chocolate.  Definitely, a crunch and a must try!  Selling at P100 (100g), P250 (225g), P375 (350g) and P495 (450g).  The 100 grams is packed in a plastic while the rest is contained in a gold can, that’s why it is more expensive if you divide it by gram.  So, I suggested to Kat, one of the owner, to give the customer an option how many grams they want to buy by placing a weighing scale.  With this option, customers (like me!) will purchse more because they do not need to worry on how to dispose the gold tin can in case they buy the almond crunch for their own consumption.

Another bestseller is the banana cream pie (P120/P600).  This we have yet to taste….not only stare at…Other cakes are rum cake, chocolate cake, lemon torte, mango torte, mocha sansrival, cheesecake, oepra torte and other cookies.  They also make character cake…just dropby and inquire about it.  Cost are usually on the range of P1400 and above.

Classic Confections do deliver to certain areas in Makati and Ortigas for a minimum order of P2000.

My Indigo Things

Monday, January 14th, 2008

Nowadays, it’s cool to be a MOM! You wanna know why? This is why!

Indigo Nursing Bib
You get to use a fashionable nursing bib! When I had AD, my only choice was plain old blue nursing bib (cost me around P800!) which I had to retire now since I have this new chic nursing bib! Yahoo! It’s even reversible to match my wardrobe or may even be thought as my blouse (what large blouse I have! haha). At least now, when people see me in public with this nursing bib, they will get distracted with the nice design and not staringly ask me (with one eyebrow raised up) what is going in there?! tsk…tsk…

I just wish that Indigo Yummy Mummies would consider in putting a pocket on the bib because in my past experience, the pocket was helpful in safekeeping the cover of my breast pump (we don’t want it to get dirty don’t we?) and diaper cloth. Oh yes, I was nursing AD and at the same time, pumping on the other breast in attempt to save milk when I get back to work. I get more milk when I do that which made me very happy!

Chateau Hestia-1

And this is my new hottest baby in town…with the hip nappy clutch!  I love the camouflage design! I think AD envies his brother JX for having this cool changing pad.  AD always remind me to use this whenever he sees that I am about to change JX’s diaper, even at home.  He also volunteers to carry the nappy clutch when we’re out (Ako na, ako na!, he would say)! The camo design was the right choice so even my HubbyBubbly will not have an excuse for not changing his son’s nappies in public because he can also bring this masculine design to the changing room. From the photos, I thought the changing mat would be short or just right for JX but I was wrong because there’s still a lot of room for a growing JX! The mat looks sturdy because of the thick clear plastic. Oh by the way, this clutch is an all-in-one because there’s a diaper pouch which can store 2-3 diapers at a time, a clear compartment to store your baby wipes (yes, the moist of the wipes are retained) and a 25in x 15in changing mat. No need for a separate baby wipes pack. Nice thinking, convenience for the mommas out there!

My next Indigo rave is the Jar of Hope First Aid Gel. The first time I saw this on ShopCrazy and browsed their products, the Jar of Hope caught my chinky eyes aside from the Shoo Fly (what a catchy name!)! It claimed that it is great for mommas and poppas burnouts, stress, insomnia, fussy babies, insect bites, motion sickness, inflammations, cuts, rashes and wounds. Even teething! Made from blue chamomile essential oil (contains azulene’s healing properties) with a fresh apple scent. At first, I was hesitant to use this on JX so I dabbed an itsie teenie weenie dot on his arm to see if he has allergic reactions.  Good thing, there was no reactions on him!  So, I quickly and excitedly put the liquid gel unto JX’s neck where rashes were evident.  This was gone after a few days of application.  Indeed, it worked! And so, the Jar of Hope is one of the things I regularly have within my reach when I am carrying JX especially when knowing that it cam from organic and all natural ingredients.
