COLDs Rush
We have been invaded by the colds virus 2 weeks ago. Not even JX was spared! I was worried so I informed our pedia, Dra. V and was advised to apply salinase nasal drops into his nose. Of course, it was just but natural to trust your pediatrician since she is the doctor of kids and has the experience with the appropriate medications for all kids ages. Not to mention that JX was only a little over a month old! You would do anything to keep newborns from getting any kind of illness because they will surely have a hard time with it especially if it is a cold.
It was my first time to use salinase nasal drops even if JX is my second child already. I was hesitant to use it before with AD because I feel it would “invade” the baby because you would insert something into your nose other than your hand (hmm…aha! gotcha! hahaha) covered with tissue. And if it is really, really safe for newborn babies. I did some research for more information on this for my peace of mind. Accidentally, I came across this website of Pedia Pharmacy Inc., the drug company, who coincidentally manufactured the salinase nasal drops my pediatrician prescribed for JX. Cool! Price was the same when I bought the drops at Mercury Drug. Coincidentally, I also found that you can also make your own salinase! This is cheaper! Next time, I’ll have colds, I’ll surely try this homemade solution (2nd answer)! (Hve you tried it? Did it work?)

Hi,
You may try other homeopathic remedies like a few drops of Alium Cepa or a spoonful of Pyrite for phlegm. My Pedia, Dr. Crickette Palanca-Chen is the best. She understands that some mums like us prefer less or no chemicals for our babies (yes, some of her patients do not vaccinate) and recommends alternative medicines for a safer, healthier approach

My son, Hiro’s pedia prescribed salinase when he was also months old. I had the same apprehensions and was so scared to administer some on him, so it was my husband who mostly did the job. Hiro’s turning 3 in March and he has already “graduated” from salinase. He still uses some nasal drops (i forgot the name) whenever he’s congested…. and I’m glad I’ve finally overcome the fear of giving it to him

I’ll have to try this one for myself as I really don’t like the usual nasal sprays that are out in the market. I’ll have to use the homemade version though becuase Salinase is not available in the US.
