Afternoon Snack at Moon Garden in Tagaytay

“This is just great! We will be having breakfast menu for an afternoon snack.” That was what I told myself. I can’t wait to eat because I love most of the breakfast choices particularly, longganiza (sweet) in any resto.

What also excites me was that it is partially owned by a Belgian and 2 more Filipinos. Hmmm….what will they concoct this time? Yikes! Serve me the food!

I was excited as I saw the server bring down our drinks to our table. She laid the drinks down one by one as I asked what they were. I didn’t get to see the menu because my hands were occupied. The drinks were: Guyabano shake (no ice and it was pure Guyabano, I’m loving this!), Yoghurt with honey on top (Yummy! AD loved the honey. He got all the honey from our share. We asked for more for him.) and coffee in a takore (stainless container for liquids where you also boil water) with herbs (what?! hmmm…the server didn’t know what she was talking about, but I didn’t get to ask it from the other servers anymore as I was looking after JX and AD. Do you think there is such herbs?).

The food (daing na bangus, crispy adobo flakes, paksiw na cochinillo and binagoongan) was disappointing. It was several times heated. Need I say more? It was that obvious aside from the food being served in a short period ( or were we just expecting that it would be like the same waiting period from our Chateau Hestia lunch?). Definitely, the daing na bangus was very obvious…can you see the color of the fish? We didn’t complain anymore as we were kinda tired and wanting to go home. The breakfast set menu is priced at P265+.

Moon Cafe Breakfast Menu

The binagoongan and the paksiw na cochinillo was not part of the breakfast menu but it was also same price as the others. The homemade marmalade, butter and wheat buns were NOwhere to be seen. Was it because we arrived close to 2pm which incidentally is also their closing time. They serve their breakfast set menu from 7am to 2pm. Dine by reservations only. One day notice required. No minimum number of guests.

Anyway, forget about the food and let me share with you their garden….As you walk to their entrance, you would be welcomed by the gate of leaves. You will be fascinated with what you will see…it was a long and winding road to the cafe. It seemed like I was walking for so long until I reached my destination…But it was expected that it would take you longer to reach the place because of your anticipation of wanting to BE there already! The paintings you see were life sized and are for SALE. I did not quite catch who the painter was. I was never an art lover. Left brain does not work at all or maybe sometimes, just sometimes.

I suddenly remember my uncle. My aunt, his wife, calls him Mooney. Since it was far from his original name and curious I was, I had to ask why. She told me in a smiling face…It was because the shape of my uncle’s face is shaped like a quarter moon! Hahaha. I had to agree.

Welcome Moon Cafe, Tagaytay

These photos below are places where you can have your food served. The best place was where we had our breakfast. It was cool and cozy. But be warned that there are mosquitos lurking around and looking for victims! JX was almost wrapped and it was good thing I brought my Shoo Fly Don’t Bother Me Insect Repellant by Indigo. Never leave without it especially when going to an out-of-town trip! You’ll never know what will surprise you! I rubbed it on JX’s exposed body parts as I don’t want him to be victimized by those blood sucking insects. The place was very spacious…AD loved running around the place once again. This excitement made him barely eat his food. Be sure that someone is also watching over your kids while you enjoy the garden. We thank our Grandpopsy looked over our AD while AD was having the time of his life around the garden.

Moon Cafe Dining Location

I will definitely not go back to Moon Garden for their breakfast but the company and the ambiance would do! And don’t forget the guyabano shake and yoghurt with honey! Maybe will have second thoughts in trying out their salad experience for lunch/ dinner priced at P500+ per person.

I wonder what their activities are for FULL MOON…any one of you have experienced it? Care to share it with us?
