“We thought we live in a global warming world, um but this is actually er not right. We lived in a global warming plus a Global Dimming world, and now we are taking out Global Dimming. So we end up with the global warming world, which will be much worse than we thought it will be, much hotter.”

          This was a line from Information Clearing House, the news you won’t find on CNN and if you are interested to view the whole script just visit this site: www.informationclearinghouse.com. In fact, this is true. We are living and experiencing Global Warming and at the same time, the world is undergoing a certain condition called Global Dimming. To tell you honestly dear reader, this is the first time I encountered this word. I just know only about Global Warming. Is it the same with Global Warming or the other way around? Is it beneficial or destructive to us humans and other living things? Let us know more about Global Dimming as we go on, on this reaction. What is Global Dimming and what is it all about? Is it related to Global warming and if it is related, how?

          According to wikipedia and others sites that give information on global dimming,  it is the gradual reduction in the amount of global direct irradiance at the Earth’s surface that was observed for several decades after the start of systematic measurements. Another site stated that global dimming is indicated by measurements over land areas in many regions in the world and may therefore be a real phenomenon. A change of that magnitude in the incoming solar radiation itself is not possible since satellite observations would have seen it. Thus, it must be something that is happening in the atmosphere to intercept solar radiation.

          But what causes this thing? To make this one short, aerosols and the contrails from jets are the best examples for this one. Maybe some would say that this is good to all of us. It’s a big no, because it can kill us. Oh, I almost forgot about the relations between Global Warming and Dimming. They are somehow related. We all know that Global Warming is the increase of the temperature but it is somehow related. Some scientists now consider that the effects of global dimming have masked the effect of global warming to some extent and that resolving global dimming may therefore lead to increases in predictions of future temperature rise.

          The pollutants that lead to global dimming also lead to various human and environmental problems, such as smog, respiratory problems, and acid rain. The impacts of global dimming itself, however, can be devastating that why it is called as a killer. Therefore we should not rejoice. It may have been behind the worst climatic disaster of recent times, responsible for famine and death on a biblical scale. And Global Dimming is poised to strike again.

          This is a threat for us humans. This is a challenge given by Mother Earth to us. So what we should do now? What are we doing now? Are we waiting for the time that we should look for other planets same like the Earth to shelter us?

As I conclude this statement, it’s not too late to improve our world. It’s just a test for us. We should not wait for the time that we would ride spaceships and rockets just to transfer in a different world. We can still provide some solutions for this growing problem. Honestly, we are now living in a world of extremities. However we can balance it through our own acts. 

This is another reaction paper I made when I was in the third year…

Actually this one is one of my posts on my Chemistry Teacher’s blog. When I was in the third year, I made this one so that I would have a grade. Why did I put this one here? I don’t know… I just really don’t know. maybe I just want to share my insights to you, guys. Maybe, I’ll be posting some more because I just want to put it here.

So let me start…

          Spay here, spray there, and spray everywhere. Put here, put that there, and put it everywhere. Apply that one here, spread over there, and rub on it everywhere. Are we aware that we are using chemicals which are fatal to us humans and dangerous to other living things at the same time? Are we not conscious that we are destroying Mother Earth when we smear those chemicals we use at home? We all know that these chemicals help us feel comfortable in our houses due to the cleanliness it brings into our homes but it also helps in destroying our health and our environment at the same time. Have you ever wondered why we have so many illnesses and ailments even if our world is now modern?  How many times you have heard a doctor comment that although they can tell you what the symptoms are, they cannot tell you what is causing you or a loved one to become ill. Well, let’s answer this one as I go on, on this reaction.

Well, it’s because of our modern industrialized world. Our world is full of deadly, fatal, toxic and noxious chemicals. I read an article before that states “there is no household chemical solution that did not omit lethal ingredient”. Moreover, this proves that every household chemical we use is fatal. While I was making this reaction, I was also wandering around our house trying to figure and discover out how many the deadly chemicals in our house are. I was shocked when I counted them all and I was startled because eight of them that were listed were inside our house.

 We have become susceptible to many illnesses brought about by our environment and modern living, such as autoimmune disease, cancer, and many others that simply would not flourish today. All of this starts in our homes as we are exposed daily to dangerous household chemicals!  Yes, thanks to modern consumerism, our homes are havens of dangerous household chemicals. In an ideal situation, we would be breathing clean air, drinking fresh chemical free water, eating fresh healthy produce and our skins would not need any form of product to keep them young. But our lives are anything less than ideal!

Although we can do very little about the contaminants outside our home, we can minimize our exposure to dangerous household chemicals within our home. Regarding dangerous household chemicals in cleaning products, we can use many alternatives in freshening up our homes.

 What people do not understand, is that by constantly using these cleaning chemicals in our homes, our resistance to colds and viruses will be severely compromised. Most certainly, it’s not in the best interest of our health and the health of our families to allow our homes to be a haven of dangerous household chemicals. Just remember this thing, “there is no chemical that is safe, but there is a way that we can be safe from this chemicals and this is withdrawing ourselves from them.
