Meg’s Monsters
Cute little animal things

I’ve been sick for the past two weeks.  Just a cold, but enough to make me not feel like doing much of anything.  But as I’m recovering I realize that I haven’t done anything in a while!  Let’s see what I can post for you guys.

A kappa!  Most people know about these guys, but for those who don’t:

A kappa is a Japanese water demon.  If you get too close to the water where a kappa is lurking it’ll grab you and drag you into the water to eat.  However, they are very polite.  If you bow to a kappa it’ll always bow back.  Fortunately for you, kappa need to keep water in the bowl-like depression in their head or they’ll suffocate out of the water!  If they bow it’ll spill and then they’re in trouble.  They also love cucumbers.  If you write your name on a cucumber and toss it into the water, the kappa will eat it and remember that you’re nice.  That way you don’t get eaten!  In some Harvest Moon games you can toss cucumbers into a pond to get a present from the local kappa.

Today I found an old page of sketches of monster ideas.  Hopefully I can glean ideas from there for a while!  Here’s a jellyfish.

Don’t know what he is

Not totally sure what this is…It’s a pterodactyl, but maybe it’s some kind of goblin or something?

Tabee the Tapir

Tabee the bee

Hey guys, I’m still alive!  This is a character idea I had, her name is Tabee the Tapir.  Tapir babies are fluffy and brown with stripes and so adorable you would not believe.  Don’t take my word for it, google for baby tapirs!  When Tabee’s fluffy baby coat was shed, she discovered that under it she had a white stripe running through her dark fur!  That’s normal for Malayan tapirs, but she took it to mean that she’s some kind of bee!  Now she runs around with bee wings on her back.

It seems that there are some blank spots in her coloring jobs around the edges of the lines…darn!

Goblin Mother

Goblin Mother Censored

Meet the Goblin Mother, Jodi!  She is friends with Judith, the Ghost Mother.  Like Judith, Jodi is a little girl who got ‘adopted’ by monsters and brought back from the dead to be their mommy in the sense that a girl is the ‘mommy’ of her dolls.

I’ve actually had this design waiting for a while but saved it for Halloween.  This is the censored version of her design.  The orignal version is not too different, she just has a little blood on her clothes but it is right over her heart and I know there are younger users here so I want to be careful about blood and violence and the implications they bring.

The last of the vegetable characters is Pea’s dog, Corn.  Yes, a corn dog.  His head is supposed to look like a single kernel of corn.

Pea and Carrot’s sassy friend Radish.  Hmmmm I’m thinking she should’ve had a brighter green for her hair.

In my last post I introduced Pea, a character I’m working on.  I have no personality set for her beyond ‘cute’ right now.  Here is her friend Carrot.

Carrot is nervous.  That’s her only personality so far.  Hmmm, her right ear seems to be too high…  and I’m not so sure about the colors, what do you guys think?  Maybe a different hair color.

More Penguins!

You know those ridiculous pastel tuxedos people sometimes wear on TV?

They’re on the adoptables page as well!

And here’s a character design I’ve been working on. Her name is Pea.

Blog All-Star!

I got onto the Blog All-Stars blog and didn’t know until today!  I’m pretty happy about that.

Recently I did a few items for a pet site called Aramii.  They’re a super new site so if you register expect the game to be slow going!  Here’s one of the things I made for  them:
