Wajas is down…it drove me crazy at first but now I’m just impatient for Monday to come.

Anyways, here’s a cute thing!

Water bug

I tried to make a digital painting version but it wasn’t so great.  I quit before it made me crazy.

Mohawk Snail

This design originated on the same page of sketches as my earlier jellyfish design.  I like his spots.

I’ve been sick for the past two weeks.  Just a cold, but enough to make me not feel like doing much of anything.  But as I’m recovering I realize that I haven’t done anything in a while!  Let’s see what I can post for you guys.

Kappa

A kappa!  Most people know about these guys, but for those who don’t:

A kappa is a Japanese water demon.  If you get too close to the water where a kappa is lurking it’ll grab you and drag you into the water to eat.  However, they are very polite.  If you bow to a kappa it’ll always bow back.  Fortunately for you, kappa need to keep water in the bowl-like depression in their head or they’ll suffocate out of the water!  If they bow it’ll spill and then they’re in trouble.  They also love cucumbers.  If you write your name on a cucumber and toss it into the water, the kappa will eat it and remember that you’re nice.  That way you don’t get eaten!  In some Harvest Moon games you can toss cucumbers into a pond to get a present from the local kappa.

Today I found an old page of sketches of monster ideas.  Hopefully I can glean ideas from there for a while!  Here’s a jellyfish.

Jellyfish

Don’t know what he is

Not totally sure what this is…It’s a pterodactyl, but maybe it’s some kind of goblin or something?

Tabee the bee

Hey guys, I’m still alive!  This is a character idea I had, her name is Tabee the Tapir.  Tapir babies are fluffy and brown with stripes and so adorable you would not believe.  Don’t take my word for it, google for baby tapirs!  When Tabee’s fluffy baby coat was shed, she discovered that under it she had a white stripe running through her dark fur!  That’s normal for Malayan tapirs, but she took it to mean that she’s some kind of bee!  Now she runs around with bee wings on her back.

It seems that there are some blank spots in her coloring jobs around the edges of the lines…darn!
