These four bunnies are leading the way on a new adoptables page! *points to the right*

There’s a story that goes along with this. Once upon a time I used to hang around on Gaia Online a lot. For those not familiar, that’s a big forum with some games thrown in, and you buy clothes for a pixel doll avatar with gold you get from posting. From 2004-2006 that was a big part of my life, and being an artist, I spent a lot of time trying to get art commissions and running adoptable shops. Once and a while I would get a decent amount of Gaia gold from a sale but most of the time I was failing in a highly competetive community with artists much, much better than myself. There were even artists worse than me that were seeing better sales because they had more friends in the community. I tried a lot of different things and put a LOT of effort into my art, but no matter what I did, it seemed like it wasn’t enough.

It’s been over a year since I’ve been on Gaia and now I realize that all that time, I was just unhappy. I came up with a lot of great ideas and improved my drawing skills a lot, but I was looking to earn fake money and fake popularity, and I wasn’t getting it. Now I’m here on SanrioTown and trying adoptables again. What’s the difference? They’re free. SanrioTown doesn’t even have tradeable money (I dunno how things will change with HKO launching), and thus far everyone here has been really friendly, so there is no pressure here to succeed. I can make things fun again.

These first four bunnies are testing the waters for me, so I can see how many people are interested. Comment or email me if you have any feedback, please. At this point everything’s a blank canvas, I’m taking any suggestions.

Leatherfly

He still looks more grumpy than mean to me.  Also, it was a challenge getting his wings to look right, the shading is kind of weird.

Today I spent seventy bucks at the local Sanrio store.  When I get my camera phone back from the repair shop on Monday I’ll show you guys my swag.  I bought waaaaaay too many stickers, I don’t know what to do with them, so some of them are on my sister’s cellphone and a bunch are all over the edges of my monitor.  Thank goodness I have a sticker album!  I’m filling it slowly so that I have something to do later when I’m bored.  When the first page is full I’ll scan it.  Through the spinning rack of stickers I discovered the wonderfull FroolieMew character who is such a great change of pace from the Hello/Charmmy Kitty designs.  I’m gonna look for her more.

While I’m writing I can show a monster from my stash…

Satyr

The Leatherfly comes tomorrow morning!

Leathercoon

Even when it sleeps it’s grumpy…

I got into the Founder’s Beta!  Ohmygawd so excited.  But I have to wait for October to download the game!  Two weeks!  Gaaaaaarg how will I wait?!

Oh yeah, today the Featherfly’s rival appears…

Leatherpillar

So you probably guessed this little guy will go through a metamorphosis of his own.  We’ll just have to wait…

An extra post today because I want you to see this thing I did.

Heartbunny

I’m thinking of making a page and putting adoptables on it, would people be interested in that?

Well good morning, sleepyhead!  Out of your coccoon already?

Featherfly

Well really the Featherfly’s not the only one I’m talking to…last night I went to bed a little early, but woke up a little late!  What the heck, self?

Feathercoon

Oh man, the Featherpillar’s changing!  I think we all know what comes next…

I got a link exchange!  Down there on my blogroll is BunnyWinx, another artist.  Her stuff looks pretty cool!  And one of her posts got me temporarily addicted to an online game yesterday.

Featherpiller

This is the featherpillar!  Its caterpillar fluff looks a lot like featers.  I wonder what it’ll look like when it grows up…

Strawberry Mouse

This design isn’t totally refined yet…  It was also hard to get all those seeds on there!  The strawberry mouse hides in gardens.
