Interesting animal tidbits

Environmental activists use cell phone ringtones for ‘education, inspiration’

An environmental group is aiming to increase awareness for rare and wild animals by making the sounds of these exotic animals via (guess what) ring tones which may be downloaded from their website and uploaded onto your cell phones. Among the sounds available are that of the Beluga Whale, Boreal Owl and Mexican wolf.

“An environmental group is hoping that the more people hear these sounds from threatened animals, the more they’ll wonder where they came from — and question the fate of the animals and birds that make them.

“The point here is education and inspiration,” said Michael Robinson, a conservation advocate at the Center for Biological Diversity’s office in Pinos Altos, N.M.”
