Jeff Koons Balloon Dog (Yellow)
This is one of his three exhibits on the rooftop of the Met. Created between 1994-2000, it is made of high chromium stainless steel with transparent color coating. It its 121 x 143 x 45 in. in size and it looks like a giant clown shaped it out of a metallic balloon!
For perspective, here I am right beside it! Heehee!
Amazing huh? According to the leaflet, and as if to confirm my initial impression, this is “based on balloons twisted into the shape of a toy dog. Standing more than 10 feet tall, its highly reflective and brightly colored surface gives the appearance of an actual balloon in a form that wold delight a child but would also fascinate any student of Freud.”
