Abaco Bags: Still Under the Radar
This is what I stumbled upon a New York showroom last month! I wasn’t familiar with the brand but I was impressed with the quality of the leather and the slouchy, timeless design (I could wear it 2 ways, either with the sides open, or tucked under the flap) that I just had to get it!
Being a showroom sample (F/W 2009 Collection too!), I of course got it for a good deal! I asked one of the showroom staff where I could find Abaco bags and she said it was in specialty boutiques and stores like Henri Bendels. Hmmm, if it’s good enough for Bendels it’s good for me! Heehee!
Based on my research, “Abaco was formed (in Paris) in 1987 by a French businessman Mr. Guy Achache. It all started from a ‘’personal belt‘’ that belonged to him since he was a teenager.” His wife Raquel designed a replacement for him and went on to design belts and bags that are now the epitome of understated bohemian luxury!
