Hey! What’s up? Sorry for not blogging much. I took alot of quizzes online about myself. Anyway, I found something about Onion. Remember the myth that peeling and chopping onions will make you cry? It seems that they acually don’t cause crying, but the stinging sensation in eyes.

When onions are sliced, cells inside it break, causing enzymes to break down ammino acids and generate sulphenic acids. They rearrange into a gas called syn-propanethial-S-oxide. The gas diffuses in the air and reaches the eyes, where it binds to sensory neurons, causing stinging. The tear part is for clearing out the irritant of the gas. A way to prevent the effect is to cut the onions in running water. Another way is to wear goggles, to prevent the syn oxide gas from getting in the eyes.I don’t know where the theroy of chewing gum helps to prevent crying came from, but I’m sure that does not work.

Well, that’s all I have today! See Ya!
