The Suite Life of Hello Kitty

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

Whoa, I can’t believe I only saw this now! I present to you, THE Kitty life care of the Taiwan’s Grand Hi-Lai Hotel!

Hello Kitty Suite 01

I’m as shocked as Kitty seems to be haha! That’s a pic of the Hello Kitty Suite — 50 square meters, with a living room, dining room and master bedroom. Everything is KT-themed, and in a very stylish way might I add! Check out the pics from the bathroom, which btw has a bubble bath moohahaha~

Bathroom 01 Bathroom 02

There’s another type of room, the Hello Kitty Room, is a bit smaller (33 square meters) but still comes with a lot of Hello Kitty stuff, like KT curtains, a KT lamp, postcards, notepads, letter paper and envelopes. You also get stuff like KT slippers and bathrobes~ Here’s a pic from this room:

Hello Kitty Room

And finally, there’s the Hi-Lai Kitty House at the hotel lobby, and if you’re a KT fan.. You. Will. Spaz.

Kitty House Kitty House 2

In the Kitty House there are lots of limited edition stuff. Oh the frustration~ Erhm. Anyway, as you probably expected, this KT paradise doesn’t come cheap. A night at the Suite is NT$18,000 plus 10% tax (Total of about US$550), and at the Room it’s NT$7,800 plus 10% tax (Total of about US$260). Eeek! That’s a huge chunk off my savings! Hahaha~

Anyway in case anyone’s interested, you can visit the site. They got some of the details mixed up though, but it’s easy to figure out. That’s where I got the pics btw. :)

Hello Kitty Fastfood?

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Haha, while there really is Hello Kitty fastfood, that’s not what this post is about. Well, not technically :P

Hello Kitty Fries Coinpurse

FRIES…but not! Haha, credits to magicsparklebean for this pic, I hope she doesn’t get mad that I reposted it ^^v Anyways according to her, this is actually a coin purse. But to me it looks good enough to eat~ I’m serious! *BITE* XD

I don’t think there’s any popular food that doesn’t have a plushie or toy version. And Hello Kitty certainly didn’t miss out on this. So TADA~

Diner Purses

The complete set! Credits to toriloveskitty for this one :) It would be so awesome to have all these.. but what’s that beside the burger? Is that a taco or something? LOL. But I do think the fries look the most fun :P Mmm I’m getting hungry~

Hello Kitty Set

I liiiiiiiiiiike! I really love it when they change Hello Kitty’s image, I mean not that I’m tired of the classic one, it’s just nice that she gets adventurous once in a while haha~

These are cute little keychains I found on eBay (hence the watermark). The one with the eyepatch is a little too much for me :P and I think the ones on the bottom row are cuter. My favorite is the brown one (third on the bottom row)…or is that gold? Aurgh how come I never find these things in local stores T_T this’ll cost me way too much especially with shipping and all. But it’s so nice.. T_T

Anyways (still crying btw), the figures themselves are 5-5.5cm tall depending on which one…I’m guessing the bunny-eared ones are 5.5cm. They’re made of PVC, and they’er being sold as a set. The suggested retail price according to the seller is US$49.99, but the starting bid is US$9.99 heheh, not bad. Wah I want that gold KT.. T_T

Oh P.S.— Thanks very much to everyone who voted for me so far. Also special mention to angelchao and my friend sugarsmile for helping spread the word~ :)

Maneki-Neko

Okay, first, I’ll say this: Whoa. You will understand, as I explain what this is.

This is a Hello Kitty Maneki Neko. If you aren’t familiar with the term, maybe this image will help:

Maneki-Neko Original

Aha. :) Well, here’s the description of the Maneki Neko from Wiki:

The Maneki Neko (招き猫, literally “Beckoning Cat”; also known as Welcoming Cat, Lucky Cat, Money cat, Fortune Cat) is a common Japanese porcelain or ceramic, which is believed to bring good luck to the owner. The sculpture depicts a cat beckoning with an upright paw, and is usually displayed in stores, restaurants, pachinko parlors, and other businesses. A raised right paw supposedly attracts money, while a raised left paw attracts customers.

I see this a lot here, especially in ChiTown, and honestly I didn’t know it was a Japanese thing till reading that article on Wiki >_< I’d always thought it to be Chinese hmm… Anyways moving on :P

That huge Hello Kitty figure up there is part of the “Hello Kitty Selection” event at Mitsukoshi Department Store in Tokyo. It’s a Hello Kitty doll, the centerpiece of the event, and it has 62,000 Swarovski Crystals. Yes, 62,000. And it costs a whopping 8M Yen or over 66,000 USD. Ouch. I’m not sure how big she is, but judging from the kid in the picture, I’d say she’s pretty big.

The event features 800 unique Hello Kitty products. I’ll most probably be featuring some of the others here, stay tuned~ ;)

McKitty Plush Capsules

Plush Capsules 2

OF ULTIMATE CUTENESS! Oh my goodness!! Okay I need to breathe. Breathe in. Breathe out… WAH. What are these they’re so cute hahaha~ Nyaaaa~!

Okay erhm. Plush Capsules T_T In a previous post, I wrote and featured about gashapon, and now consider this part 2 of that. These are indeed gashapon toys, BUT they’re at least a million times more fun, coz they’re tiny plush toys! Hahaha. Those things must be no bigger than 2.5 inches in diameter, awww. Poke the round plushies heeheehee. I’m sorry but they’re just so silly-looking, in a fun way, and I want them so badly.

Plush Capsules 1

It’s actually from McDonalds, as you’ll see in the above pic, but only in Hong Kong, as far as I know. I’m not sure how this was distributed in McDonalds, probably one of those minimum-purchase-required thingies, but this is so cool coz it really is a gashapon machine. You turn the yellow knob and then a random capsule toy will fall out. Waaah.

While there’s some of this up on eBay, it’s a little too pricey for me T_T It’s one of those “mind is willing but wallet is weak” kinda things haha. Bidding starts at US$30, and shipping is US$20. Ouch. But for 14 super squishy, super pokeable plush toys (12 KT and Friends + 2 Special Edition), I highly recommend this moohaha~ Somebody please buy this and take a picture of one being poked. LOL.

Calico KT Robot Plush

Friday, July 20th, 2007

Calico

This is apparently a very rare design, and it’s a fresh new look for Hello Kitty. Just like my old post where KT was not the normal white kitty, this time she’s turned into a calico cat~

As the title says, this is supposedly a robot, a wind-up robot to be exact. Hmm I’m not sure how it works, but she has a big key behind her. I don’t know if she’s battery-powered or literally a wind-up toy. As for height, she’s 18 cm tall.

Oooh watermark heheh(pic from eBay)

This model was available exclusively in the Japan Amusement Game Center as a prize item, but it’s apparently authentic. It’s so cute, I think this look suits Kitty. But of course I still like the original haha. It’s being sold for USD 18.99, so if any of you are interested, you can check it out~

On the Sanrio town main blog~

Monday, July 16th, 2007

I found this on the Sanriotown main blog, and you probably have already seen this, but I just wanna share it anyways~MTR Heroes Collection~

Hahaha fun! Hello Kitty as the Hong Kong MTR personnel. Let’s see… there’s the train operator, assistant fire & security supervisor, infrastructure maintenance officer, rolling stock maintenance officer, station assistant, and the group station manager. I’m not sure about the order, if that’s the order in the picture, I’ve never been on the Hong Kong MTR so I wouldn’t know what their uniforms are like.

There’s also a video on Dream Studio about some program when they launched this promo. If I’m not mistaken, this is something to get people familiar with the MTR personnel, I think it’s brilliant, especially for younger people :) I think this is the first time I’ve seen Hello Kitty in a uniform like that, complete with cap! And they look pretty well-made too~

You can read the full article on the Sanriotown Blog. :)

Also, just sharing… I got featured on the main Sanrio Town blog, Blog of the Week! YAAAAY~~!!

Yay! Blog of the Week~

Hurray hurray! Thanks so much Sanriotown, I feel so honored haha~ A lot of people seem to like this mushroom :) Silly thing. <3

Hello Kitty Baby Grand Piano

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

hello Kitty Baby Grand Piano

I stumbled upon a blog called Hotzone, and lookie what I found! A tiny grand piano released by Sega Toys~ I absolutely love the design on this! I imagine a beautiful girl sitting and playing beautiful music on it. Except that…it’s not possible. The piano is only 18 cm high and 25 cm wide, and although the tiny ivory keys (0.4 cm each) can really be played, you’d have to have freakishly small hands to do that. Haha. Well if you don’t wanna start poking the keys with a pen or something, you can also have it play any of 100 built-in jazz and classical tones.

Anyways, this’ll be out on October I believe, selling for ¥68,250 (about $554). I wanna at least hear how this sounds~

KT Mushroom!

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

Now this made me laugh!

This is so funny LOL! I don’t know why but I’ve been looking at it for like half an hour and it’s still making me smile. Kitty what happened to yoooou~~?

Yes folks, she’s become a mushroom. LOL. I love how she doesn’t seem to have any shoulders, her tiny arms just seem to sprout from her mushroomy head. Honestly when I saw this I didn’t really think it was Hello Kitty, I literally laughed out loud. Look look haha maybe it’ll make more sense―

Haha. She’s a really low seat. Actually bigger than I imagined when I saw the first pic. Would’ve been funny if she were a squishy little mushroom, like 3 inches or so. LOL. I wonder how much weight this thing can hold, looks more like a toy really. If I saw this in someone’s place I’d probably point and laugh. I’m sorry it just looks so silly and funny! @_@ I’d buy this though! And I still love Kitty hahaha~

Kitty Mint

Monday, June 4th, 2007

Euros

No, not the candy type of mint. I’m talking about a 50 euro coin minted from gold and silver. I would like to get your reaction on this guys, and get your friends’ reactions too maybe. Heheh.

Yes, that is what it looks like, and you read right. Kitty has gone on to the world of grown-ups, she has her own mon-ay~ It’s a collector’s item minted by Monnaire de Paris of France, but it IS real currency. So if anyone will be crazy enough to go to a store and buy something with this, it’ll be honored. BUT it’s worth far more than 50 Euros. It’s worth ¥168,000 or around €1,026 (US$1,376). YIKES. Basically if you pay with it, it’s only gonna pay for €50, but if you sell it, you’ll get its real price as a collector’s item. I guess. Harhar.

Sorry for all the numbers heheh. Well, for most of us this is definitely not something we’d get, still pretty interesting though. According to the news, there’ll be a series of these coins, showing Kitty having the time of her life in different places.

I actually have mixed emotions about this. But I’ll read what you guys have to say first. :)
