The Good Stuff

Let’s Cook! CRAB MEAT SPAGHETTI
from Hello Kitty Online

Hailing from Sanrio Harbour in the new (and different) MMORPG Hello Kitty Online! So far for the English version closed beta testers, one of our first handful of quests is from the NPC Mary, who provides a recipe for Crab Meat Spaghetti. The recipe is a skill that can be added to the player’s Production inventory; gathering the materials needed (Dark Opal Basil x10, Crab Meat x10, Flour x10) will yield a stamina-increasing meal for your character which can sharpen their cooking skills and provide them with energy to keep gathering or building. My good friend Kacciro and I thought:

“What about us!?”

In my own family, cooking is ‘kind of a big deal’; we own two restaurants and while I consider myself the ‘worst’ cook out of all of us, the end result of the following adventure proved two important things:

1. Crab Meat Spaghetti is delicious and should be
enjoyed by everyone. Everyone.

2. If I’m the worst cook in my family, the best cook
is of supernatural inclination.

Of course, I did have help. Kacci and I are still pretty inexperienced, so we called upon Kacci’s own Piolo (he’s a spaghetti master–really!). Introducing~

Chef Piolo

So! After some stove top savvy that I didn’t even know I had in me, Kacci, The Great Piolo, and I snapped some shots of our dinner so we could share it with all of you!

I will also include the recipe I used and some preparatory instructions for you if you’d like to make your own Crab Meat Spaghetti! Don’t worry, it’s super duper simple–and SUPER SCRUMPTIOUS!

Recipe & Prep

Prep: 10 mins. / Cook: 15 mins.
Makes 7 to 8 comfortable servings

1 pckg. cooked crab meat (flaked)
1 can plain tomato sauce
1 box spaghetti noodles
2 cloves garlic
1 small onion

Heavy Whipping Cream
Olive Oil
Butter
Parsley
Basil

Choice of: dry white wine or chicken broth

~

- Put on pot of water to boil; it’s for your spaghetti! Shake in about 3 tbsp. or more of salt.

- Dice your onion and mince your two cloves of garlic. Make sure your blade is sharp, and be safe!

- If you have fresh parsley or basil, chop these herbs finely. You will only need about 1 tbsp. of each. If you don’t have fresh parsley or basil available, you can always use about 1 tbsp. of the kind you find in shakers and bottles.

- Use a large skillet to heat 2 tbsp. of butter and 2 tbsp. of olive oil, then add your diced onion and garlic. Cook for a minute or two, stirring occasionally.

- Add 10 oz. of plain tomato sauce, stir.

- By this time, your water should have come to a boil (or be close to it). Slip in your box of spaghetti.

- Add about 1 cup of the dry white wine or the chicken broth to your skillet. The difference is subtle, but some people have their preferences. If you choose to use chicken broth, don’t overdo it with the salt later on.

- Add about 1 cup of heavy whipping cream.

- Add in your crab meat. Imitation crab meat will usually come in large lumps that you will need to take out of the package and pull apart. I’ve found that cutting the lump into three or four rectangles will do just fine. If you use real crab meat, all you need to do is dump it right in! Your whole kitchen should be smelling wonderfully by now!

- Drain your spaghetti. Keep it moist on a large plate, in a bowl, or a pot.

- Your crab meat spaghetti sauce should be just about finished. Go ahead and keep it on low while you get ready to serve!

Lay on a generous amount of your crab meat spaghetti sauce over a fresh bed of spaghetti and ta-da! I know it’ll be hard, but try to remember to share!

All that grocery gathering was tiring!
Time for sandwiches and spicy tuna biscuits (for stamina)~ ; )
…And a few hard candies (but not enough to spoil our main course!), teehee.

Sneaky, sneaky~
Sneaky, sneaky…

Smile!
All set (even the spaghetti’s happy about this–fancy that)!

 いただきます!
Mmmm mm!

That’s it for now! …There should be plenty left for seconds, though. ;D
