“Love is life. And if you miss love, you miss life” — Leo Buscaglia
Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007Well, I don’t know who exactly this Leo Buscaglia is (although I suppose I could always Google him) but his quote has been perplexing/discombobulating my poor brain cells for some time now.
“OH NO!” I said to myself, when I first read this quote, “That means I have no life!”
And so begins my mad dash to fish myself a boyfriend.
This process was a bit more difficult than expected. After digging through piles of boys (this is of course a metaphor. By no means did I toss the male population into a giant mountain. That would be cruel and unusual) I found that not one randomly selected species of the opposite sex offered the universally classic “feeling of protection.” Instad, they offered a rather disturbing universally classic “feeling of disgust”, as many had a tendency to pick their nose, light ants on fire, ogle girls’ butts, etc…
But anyhow, what was the lesson I learned here? (Besides the fact that it is necessary to carry pepper spray when interacting with perverts)
I have learned that the concept of “love” is not the stereotypical romantic notion we all perceive it to be.
There are diverse forms of love that are just as important as the ‘boyfriend-and-girlfriend’ love. There’s the ‘mother-and-daughter’ love. The ‘brother-sister’ love. Heck, there’s even a ‘person-and-food’ love.
So what I guess I’m trying to say is that Leo Buscaglia is right because it’s impossible to miss love, as long as there is life.
