Transformers err Diaclone

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

These were the toys I wished I had when I was young.  The toy that can change from robot into a car, plane, dinosaur, insect, gun, radio, microscope, spaceship and others that I can’t remember

I thought that The Transformer series were the first one to create these toys, but after browsing the Internet it seems that the Japanese were the first one to create these toys. They were called Diaclone

An article I found in wikipedia

Diaclone was a toyline by Takara Toys launched in 1980. It consisted of transforming vehicles and robots piloted by miniature, magnet-shoed figures spun off from the prior Microman toy line that were in turn called an Inch-Man.

The toys in the 1980 line were designed by future Macross designers Shoji Kawamori and Kazutaka Miyatake (both contracted from Studio Nue), who designed the mecha and the figures respectively. Unlike Microman, which featured “full-scale” toys of its 10 centimeter tall alien cyborgs, the figures in Diaclone represented full-sized human (and enemy alien Waruder) pilots, and were in approximately 1/60th scale.

In 1982, the line later featured the Car-Robots set of transforming robot toys, invented by Koujin Ohno with some initial designs by Kawamori and others. While the original series featured fanciful robots and vehicles, Car-Robots added the feature of the robots being able to disguise themselves as various late 20th century-era contemporary vehicles. In 1984, Hasbro licensed the Car-Robots toyline along with the Microman “Micro Change” toyline from Takara and merged the two series of toys to create the Transformers. Most of the original Autobot vehicle-based characters came from the Car-Robots set of Diaclone robots. Other Transformers characters that came from the Diaclone line included the Dinobots, Insecticons (from the enemy Waruder toys), the Decepticon planes (originally from 2 “JetRobo” toys, produced in the colors of future Decepticons Starscream and Thundercracker) and the Constructicons, who also came from the Car-Robots set. The Constructicons came from near the end of the series, at which point Takara was starting to abandon the Inch-Man pilot figures and being limited to the 1/60th scale. The 6 TrainRobo were also produced in the same sub-line as the Constructicons, but would only become Transformers (as the Trainbots) in Japan’s 1987 line.

Takara eventually discontinued the Diaclone and Microman toylines in 1985 in favor of the more successful Transformers rebranding.

Here are some videos of Old Diaclone commercials.

Tekken News

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

Here are some news about Tekken DR and Tekken 6:

*At the Sony PlayStation Premiere event in Japan, Namco Bandai Games Inc. announced that Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection ONLINE will launch in Japan this August!

Namco Bandai Games Inc. also announced that Tekken 6 will be out on console within 1 year from the arcade release date in November. They also confirmed that T6 will have ONLINE play!*

I hope that the news about Tekken 6 PS3 version isn’t true cause I was really hoping that it would be released on Jan 2008.

Tekken Tournament

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

Here are some videos of a recent tournament of Tekken in Japan.

I really hope that someday I can also join those tournaments, where the winner really receives a prize. The winner of the tournament received a new psp and he said that it was his 4th one.

The last tournament I joined only offered a cash price and the amount wasn’t even close to buying a psp game.

Street Fighter Parody

Friday, July 20th, 2007

Who doesn’t know Street Fighter? Kids playing the game always mimic an uppercut or known as the shouryuken and a fireball also known as the hadouken.

Because of the game’s success, cartoons and movies were also created. I didn’t like the movie that Van Damme starred in but I liked those comedy movies that were impersonating Street Fighter characters.

Here’s one that Jackie Chan tried to be Chun Li

The “Guile” in this movie is called Broom Man

This is not a movie but still funny

I can’t stop myself from getting a new mobile phone. This started when my sister bought a new phone. It was a Sony Ericsson K800i. After holding it, I said it was just like my phone (W810i) but bigger. I tested the camera with my son who was jumping and it was fine. Comparing the pictures of my son jumping from both phones wasn’t that far, but when I did the ultimate test, I immediately fell in love with the K800i.

At first, I was doubting that it won’t be able to pass my ultimate test, and that is to capture the blades of a fan in motion, but I was wrong. The picture was perfect. As if the fan wasn’t moving at all.

Aside from being a camera, the K800i can also serve as an MP3 player. Even though it doesn’t have a Megabass feature like the W810i, the music quality is still good. One thing that my current phone doesn’t have is a secondary camera for video calling.

Having this phone would save you from bringing another camera and an mp3 player as well.

Here’s a picture of the phone. In black, silver and brown.

PS3 Price Cut

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

It seems that there’s good news for people who are planning to purchase a PS3. I’ve read that the 60GB PS3 is now offered at $499.99.

I thought that Sony wouldn’t do a price cut that fast, but I was wrong. I bought my 20 GB PS3 at that price. So I can consider this as bad news.  :(

Tekken 5 : Action Replay Max

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

Have you seen Devil Jin doing Yoshimitsu moves, Heihachi having a super mode and doing Kuma moves or better yet Christie having a very low voice. If not, here’s your chance to see one. It’s Tekken 5 using Action Replay Max.

When I saw the videos, I was laughing at the same time troubled by their looks. Cause if you were using Devil Jin with Kuma’s moves, he would definitely look like a Demon or something. If you would notice, some of the character’s appearance have changed depending on what moves they are using. But still it’s worth watching for some laughs.

Here are the videos, enjoy!!!

Tekken 6 Beta

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

It’s not that far from playing Tekken 6 now. I saw these videos of players testing Tekken 6 located in Tokyo and Osaka in Japan.

Tekken players there had 3 days to experience the upcoming Tekken game. How I wish I was there……..

Here are few videos of Tekken 6 being tested….. Enjoy

Optimus Prime ….Tsuper mode

Friday, July 6th, 2007

It’s really obvious that I’m still not over the Transformers the movie. Even my friend EJ, he still can’t stop thinking about Optimus Prime. So here’s a picture he made of Optimus Prime having an FX version. In case you don’t know what an FX means, it’s a famous vehicle here for public transportation and tsuper means driver. :)
