REWARDS

This week is Kyle’s periodical exams. So in order to give him determination in studying, I offer him some kind of reward after studying, like playing playstation, buying toys, going to Jollibee, etc. But it made me think, what will happen if Kyle is so used to having rewards and starts expecting that he should receive something first before doing a task?

When I was young I was also receiving some kind of reward in order to have good grades. Right now Kyle is fine with just playing playstation, but I don’t know up to when that satisfaction with playing playstation will last. When he is older, he might ask for something that I can’t provide. With the post of mommyness, it seems that we are both concerned with this issue.

So now, I need to explain to Kyle that rewards are not just toys or playing playstation, true reward is self-achievement. It might take a long time to let him understand that, but that’s going to be our achievement for raising an understanding child.

Here’s a picture of Kyle (nothing related with this post) in a mirror with mama and papa.
