HKO: Censored Text

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Mwahahaha, here we are after sharing with you a couple of things about the Chat Channels in HKO. Today, we will look at something that is related to the chat too — Censored Text.

What is it exactly? Censored means it is blinded from players or replaced with asterisks(*) or other symbols to prevent players from using profanity or vulgarity words. It is a way to protect the younger players in game. Since HKO is a family game, it is understandable that most words that are considered rude be censored.

Tips & Hints:

  1. Always be considerate and polite when chatting in game so that you won’t have your sentence censored and confuse other players who are reading it.
  2. When you type a sentence and there is/are word(s) being censored, DO NOT try to bypass the filter. First, it is not nice to do so; Second, it is against the game rules and you may be warned, kicked or banned by the GMs.
  3. Examples of common filter bypassing are adding spaces or other symbols in between the letters, replace an alphabet with a number of any similar symbol, use underscroll(_) to make the word looks like a puzzle eventhough it is obviously a rude word.
  4. If you see other players who keeps on typing censored words in the chat, be a kind person to PM him/her telling him/her politely that what he/she does is not good and against the rules.
  5. Even if a some rude and inappropriate words are not being censored, DO NOT abuse by using them. Try contact a GM instead about the word that should be censored but not yet.
  6. With your help, let’s make HKO a better, cleaner community to play in!

SPOOKY, mwahahaha!

HKO: Chat Channels

Monday, August 30th, 2010

After a long weekend, we’re back again into this Project HKO! Today, we will look at the different chat channels available in-game. These chat channels are upmost important because they are what makes this game an interactive game. You would never want to be stuck in a game with no interaction between players, right?

Tips & Hints:

  1. In HKO, there are a total of 5 chat channels (the default Map, Normal, Trade, Party and Guild). They can be easily distinguised with their own text colours.HKO Chat Channels Text
  2. Map channel allows you to send your message accross the map where you’re currently in; Normal channel only let those players that you can see on your screen to read what you type, it comes with text bubbles too; Trade channel is like Map channel, but it is mostly used for buying and selling stuff, sometimes the GMs will also use this channel; As for Party and Guild channels, they are for Group and Guild respectively.
  3. These Chat Channels can be chosen by clicking on the Chat Channels Selection button on the bottom left of the screen. You may also filter out the channels that you do not or hate to see (=

  4. There are shorcuts for each chat channels:
    • Map Channel type /h <message here>
    • Normal Channel type /l <message here>
    • Trade Channel type /t <message here>
    • Party Channel type /p <message here>
    • Guild Channel type /g <message here>
    • Personal Message type /w <name here> <message here>
  5. HKO also allows players to send Private Message (PM) to each others. In these PMs, only you 2 can read what each others type and nobody else can. Ah, it’s useful when you want to tackle a girl =P
  6. When you PM someone, his avatar will show on the right of your screen. This let you see what he/she is wearing. Isn’t it lovely?HKO PM Screenshot
  7. A PM box will be openned as well, so that if you have multiple PMs from different players, you can select which one you would like to chat with at a time.
  8. Also, when there is a new PM, you will hear an alert sound, and the box will have a flashing pink envelope.
  9. With all these knowledge, you can start playing HKO like a real online game! Ask questions in-game at anytime, make new friends and more!

SPOOKY, signing off for the day.

HKO: Pinata’s Hall of Fame (Dream Carnival)

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

Aha! Here we are, looking at the Pinata event. What’s a Pinata event? It’s a special event that will be held in game during festive season. However, the Pinata I’m about to reveal is not the one during the festivals; It’s the one that located in Dream Carnival. You will first find out about it when you talk to Anthony near the Paris area. Click on the buttons on the right of Anthony’s bubble and you’ll know more about what it is.

Anthony in Dream Carnival Anthony says

Pinata's appearance Pinata's Hall of Fame

Tips & Hints:

  1. Check what are the donate-able items by talking to Anthony and then click on the 2nd button to the right.
  2. Notice the points for each items, those points are what you get for donating 1 piece of the listed items.
  3. The points varied from 3 to 5 and are different everyday for each items. One item maybe worth 5 points today but only 3 points the next day.
  4. To unlock the special Pinata event, you need to donate those items until reaching a certain amount of points.
  5. The needed points are not known, maybe only GMs know them, but according to my past experience, it varies from 3 to 1200 points. I got it unlocked twice at 300+ and 500+ points.
  6. The Pinata may only be unlocked once per day. According to my experience, a new day begins at 0000hr server time. You can start donating as early as that to make sure you’re the 1st one to unlock it.
  7. You may never know if the Pinata has been unlocked, unless a player who saw it unlocked tell you, or you have donated way beyond 1200 points.
  8. It is best to gather a lot of those donate-able items for a day and then donate them the next day. I feel that you get higher chance if you donate a lot at once. It is also safer because you don’t want to donate until 300 points and someone else unlock it while you go back to gather more items, right?
  9. When the Pinata is unlocked, players have to search for its location. It is randomly placed in the map ; )
  10. When you found it, don’t be stingy to call others for help. Everyone who participate in openning the Pinata will receive a gift once the Pinata is broken.
  11. Oh, the Pinata looks nothing like a Pinata by the way. It is a big wrapped box present. When you hit it, it only takes 1 damage. Don’t worry, call some helpers and you will break it in no time! (5 mins I mean mwahahaha)
  12. The person who unlocks the Pinata will make his name in the Hall of Fame. You can unlock the Pinata a few times to make your name on top of everyone else if you want.
  13. You can check for the Pinata’s Hall of Fame by talking to Anthony and click on the 3rd button. Pinata’s Hall of Fame is not the past daily winners list, it is the one located on the last page.
  14. If you’ve made your name in the Pinata’s Hall of Fame list, congratulations!

Wow, that was a long post! So long for now, brought to you by SPOOKY.
