Onegai My Melody (おねがいマイメロディ) is an anime series based on the Sanrio character My Melody. Produced by Studio Comet, the first series premiered between 3 April 2005 and 26 March 2006 on Animax and TV Tokyo, spanning 52 episodes. A sequel, Onegai My Melody ~Kuru Kuru Shuffle!~, started airing 2 April 2006 and finished 23 March 2007. With its next sequel, Onegai My Melody Sukkiri♪, each episode has been cut to 10 minutes. This series has also been aired across Japan by Animax and TV Tokyo. Onegai My Melody was also recently broadcast on the Philippines anime channel Hero, dubbed in Tagalog.
My Melody (マイメロディ, My Melody?)
My Melody is the protagonist of this series. She is from the forest of Mari Land, and is a rabbit. Throughout the show, she is shown wearing a pink hood that also covers her ears.
Kuromi (クロミ, Kuromi?)
Kuromi is My Melody’s rival. She is also a rabbit and wears a black joker’s hat with a pink skull at the center of her forehead. She is an escaped prisoner from Mari Land. In order to ressurect the Spirit of Dark Power, Kuromi needs to collect Black Notes, which are created through negative energy.
Baku (バク, Baku?)
A purple tapir and Kuromi’s sidekick with the ability to fly. He, in some episodes, appears to have a crush on Kuromi, and is often victim to Kuromi’s anger. His birthday is confirmed to be on February 29. His name is a bit of a pun: in Japanese, baku could mean a tapir or a dream-eating creature of Japanese mythology.
Uta Yumeno (夢野 歌, Uta Yumeno?)
My Melody’s human friend and first person to fall victim to Kuromi’s Melody Key. She is very cheerful and energetic. Also has a crush on Hiiragi.
Keiichi Hiiragi (柊 恵一, Keiichi Hiiragi?)
A famous violinst and teen heartthrob, Hiiragi supplies Kuromi’s Melody Key with Dark Power.Very popular around girls.

My Melody
My Melody is one of the many fictional characters produced by the Japanese company Sanrio. The character looks like a rabbit and always wears a red or pink hood. It is especially popular in Asia and can be found on children’s toys and merchandise.
On April 3, 2005, an anime series produced by TV Osaka started to air on TXN television stations, see Onegai My Melody (おねがいマイメロディ). This anime also recently spawned a video game for the Nintendo DS titled Onegai My Melody: Yume no Kuni no Daibouken (おねがいマイメロディ～夢の国の大冒険～). The game relies heavily on a feature of the DS which requires the player to blow air into the microphone of the unit. You guide My Melody through timed levels by jumping and using her umbrella to float around and avoid enemies. The game also has unlockable content, such as music, pictures, and mini games.
A second game was also released for the Nintendo DS titled My Melody Angel Book ~Denshitechou & Enjoy Game~ (マイメロディエンジェルブック～電子手帳＆エンジョイゲーム～). The games primary function is as a day planner designed for young girls to keep track of appointments, class schedules, and mini diary entries. There is also a profile card outlining hobbies, zodiac signs and other fun info to share with friends. The other aspect to the game is a variety of game types that are linked up. First you must gain points from a roster of simple mini games which rely heavily on using the stylus to cook food, do laundry, catch musical notes, or play a slot machine. The better score in these games, the more points to amass on your stamp card. These points can then be used in a a “shop” to buy clothing for the “dress-up” featurette, or to buy goodies for the “pet” featurette in which you must take care of My Melody, Piano, Kuromi, and Baku and send them on walks to unlock new content.

My Melody was released in 1975 and the first related merchandise was released at the end of that year.
At first she was mostly marketed toward young girls, but like Hello Kitty her popularity has increased within all age groups, especially in Asia.
When first released she was the Little Red Riding Hood character in a version of the story featuring all animal characters. The name My Melody first appeared in 1976 and soon the connection to Little Red Riding Hood all but disappeared, with the exception of a series of Little Red Riding Hood-era goods which were re-released in 2000. After 1976, her animal friends, like Flat, Piano, Rhythm and others, started appearing.
The initial My Melody goods featured a red hood but as of 1977 merchandise featuring a pink hood was released, which would be the norm for My Melody goods for several years to come.
My Melody’s popularity waned toward the late 80s, and the only goods produced were candy. In 1996, during Ichigo Shinbun’s reader survey, My Melody came out amongst the most popular characters and as a result standard merchandise started re-appearing as of February, 1997 featuring the original red hood. Goods with the pink hood were re-released in 1999 and as of 2000 there were goods released with multiple color hoods.
My Melody has been turned into a Pullip doll, like Hello Kitty and Cinnamoroll. The doll includes a Flat toy.
My Melody was the first major bunny character released by Sanrio. She is completely white, but she wears a red or pink hood and a red heart tattoo. Her riding hood usually has a pink bow, but it sometimes has a flower. My Melody was first featured wearing a red hood, but it soon became a pink hood. She is sometimes accompanied by her friends; a pink lamb named Piano, a blue mouse named Flat, an orange squirrel named Risu, her younger brother Rhythm, and her nemesis Kuromi.

And since his tail was plump and curled up just like a cinnamon roll, she decided to call him Cinnamoroll. Sweet little Cinnamoroll was instantly popular with customers, and soon became Cafe Cinnamon’s official mascot. Now, when he’s not napping on the cafe terrace, you can find Cinnamoroll flying around town looking for fun, new adventures with his friends Chiffon, Mocha, Espresso, Cappuccino and, of course, little Milk! |
Cinnamoroll also known as Baby Cinnamon is one of the many characters created by the Japanese stationery corporation Sanrio. He is a white puppy with long ears, blue eyes, and a plump and curly tail that resembles a cinnamon roll. He will be the star of his own anime movie in Autumn 2007.Well Thats it for now!
