HKO Indonesia Goodies and Buddies

Hi, I’m…

And I’ll be your guide to HKO Indonesia today.XD

That’s my current avatar. So, urm, yeah, the name I’m using in-game right now is teal, because, for some reason, an error message appears when I try to use iheartbadtz. Or iheart. Or i<3. Or i<3badtz. Or heartbadtz. Or Iheart. Or ihrtbadtz (which I changed quickly, since they might think I’m out to get XO). You get what I mean. I’ve tried those and other derivations of my name, but the error message keeps appearing (I translated it, and it says someth like the characters are invalid, which is weird since it’s pure alpha characters, but who knows if the online translator is reliable). After I realized that I couldn’t use any name based on my original one, I settled for the next thing that popped in my head: teal, which is the font color I usually use in the blogs and forums.XD (Actually, I first tried to use "heart" just to see if that’s the word being blocked, but it’s not, and I didn’t want to run around with "heart" as my name. That’s kinda corny.)

Anyway, first thing I did in-game was to PM the people I know were playing. I first poked Kaito and Sere. Kaito replied, and I asked him if there were others from FB or in the older betas who were in, and he mentioned Bi, azog, and some others, so I tried to poke ‘em too. Bi replied, but I think azog was offline at that time. I also tried adding JamJam, Starrfire, and shesroyaltee too, but they were offline at that time too, I think.

I’m still in Flora, but these are some changes that I noticed in-game (Sere blogged about these already, but I thought I might mention them again):

- There are technically new mobs, in the sense that two creatures that resemble alike (like the old bees) have different names. The only difference, aside from the names, is the damage they give so far.

- There are palette swaps of creatures! Almost every mob has a pumped-up version of the typical monster. Just thought that would’ve been helpful in the Monster Rancher quest back in FB.

- The Mafia merchants are gone, to be replaced by the marshmallow merchants.

- You know those buildings that you couldn’t get into before in Flora? Some of them are open already.

- Some of the characters have been displaced and transferred somewhere else. For example, Pink No Corisu is no longer stuck in the forest, but in her own home.

- The quest log is prettier!

- One thing I didn’t like was that if you mine, gather, etc., the count doesn’t appear at the top of the page. It loads on to all your open chat boxes in bright red text, so they’ll all automatically alert you when there’s really no legit message in them.x_x

Got in HKO about an hour ago, will post pictures tomorrow, I have to leave for class in a few minutes. It’s pretty fun, and there are definitely changes. Some good, others… Not so good.x_x

Beijing in HKO!

Is it just me, or does it look like Beijing’s Twin Stars country, much like NY is Badtz’s territory and Paris is My Melody’s? I know some people are going to be very happy if that’s true.XD

Oh, and I can’t even remember if I’ve canceled Chucho’s quest for Beijing. Does anyone even remember if he (or she? Who’s Chucho, anyway?x_x) gives an item that you should bring there. Gah. I hope I didn’t accidentally throw it away.

Founders’ Victory!

I just read on the HKO Events blog that my guild won the event! Yay! I wasn’t able to participate in this, but I’m really happy and proud that HKO Founders really worked hard to get this. Kaito gave me the numbers of the items that were gathered, I can’t remember the actual numbers, but they were huge, so I’m really amazed at the skill and the time the people put into this, not only those from HKOF, but from everyone who participated in the event.

Major shout-outs to Kaito, Kenman, Serenity, and JamJam, I’m pretty sure these four really were the pioneers of the creation of the 20 shirts. You guys rock!

Grats also to Coffee Shoppe and Misfits, as well as the runners-up (MAIcrostyle, Charmmy Kitties, Tiger Melody, Super Cute, I ♥ Hello Kitty, HKO Anonymous, Pirate Guild) and those who gave for the sake of giving (Sailoria, Twilight, Twin Starrs, and Vampire Kittens). Everyone did an amazing job on this event. You’re all awesome! Thanks to all of you, kids can have 183 shirts and 84 bags.^_^

Happy Hearts is Now Over

So sad, HKO’s closed its doors once again.:/

I’m happy though, because for the first time, I was able to be in the last few moments of an HKO beta. Yay!

I ended up not being able to contribute to the charity event (rats!), but I did get some guild screenies.

Serenity and JamJam started a line right beside the farm manager, so I ended up leaving my farm to join ‘em.

Pretty soon, we got attention from the people, like in the form of Pure…

and GM-Zel.

While we were sitting down, apparently, someone was getting married in Paris.

DeevFactor apparently married… My Melody.o_o (If someone’s got screenies of this, I would love to see ‘em.XD)

Anyway, while we were sitting down, for some weird reason, people started appearing where we were, until the area was filled with people:

Bacon being emo…

Speaking of Bacon, he made us troop all over to Paris for a group screenie before the event ended, so we marched all the way there, braving the wolves, the pythons, and the yam to go and have a photo-op. While I walked, I realized that I was actually a triplet:

Anyway, we settled down. Major lag going on, because the place was filled with people:

I made it to the final screenie! Yay! I didn’t think I would, since I was at the edge of the group already, but I’m glad I made it in.^_^

Btw, congrats to guild leaders/robots Kaito and Kenman, and the third robot Sere (XD) for winning in the Happy Hearts quest event!^_^ Congrats also to Miyabi and Yueya!

Happy Quests

The quests are finally over for Happy Hearts. I’m a bit sad about it, because it means bye-bye HKO again, but it was fun.:) As the_otakutopian said, at least we got to spend some time with our friends, both from and outside our guild.

Yeah, yeah, I know, I’m getting sentimental. *sniff* I guess this is my luckiest HKO beta so far, since I was able to meet with most of the people I know from the blogging world.:P

Onwards to pictures!

I finally got my Badtz farm. He had the strangest form of acne, so I covered his face with strawberries to keep him hidden.XD AlmightyTallest was right: once your plants start producing fruit, there’s no off button! They just go on and on and on…

The only off button you could use is when you don’t water it, as we found out when we were farming in Kaito’s farm. Rainy, whitensilver and I were actually trying to steal his crops, but then he caught us and made us his slaves.XD

Apparently, the plants don’t bear fruit if you don’t water them, and if you ignore their cries of help, they shrivel up and die.o_o Good thing we noticed earlier, or he plants would’ve been as dizzy as Kaito’s python XD (j/k Kaito!) Seriously though, I find it great that we can farm on someone else’s farm now. What happens is that what the other "workers" gather will automatically be placed in the owner’s inventory. Sad thing is, if the owner leaves while you’re still in his/her farm, you get automatically evicted.x_x

While we were in the farm, Kaito (who was planning on doing a pet guide) was asking on what the stats of the water dogs (I refuse to call them curs!) are, and then suddenly, two of ‘em started running around!

This is why I don’t take my pets out for a walk.XD

Speaking of pets, did you know that the merchants could also have pets? Don’t believe me? Check this out:

Seedman’s got a pet spooky tree! And no, that’s not my pet, since my three "equipped" ones are my water dog, dino, and rat.

One of the most memorable chats I’ve had was the one with Bi:

We came up with the craziest conspiracy theory involving GM-Neverender and GM-Bacon, with GM-Zel thrown in the mix. Not contented, we then plotted to lay a trap for GM-Wayne so we can steal his umbrella.XD Yeeeaaah, don’t tell them, please.XD

Another person I saw was Tigerlyly.

No, the wind bell tree isn’t the one that’s talking.x_x I think I weirded out tigerlyly because I was gathering cotton even after the quests were finished.:P I wanted to raise my sewing skills, so I was collecting cotton to sew into fine cotton (actually creating them this time, and not buying them XD heh, thanks to RainyG for telling me about the Harbor shop).

Also seen was tee, who I almost ignored because my net’s connection suddenly messed up:

I ended up just sitting down for almost an hour, to wait for my net to be better.XD

Other people from the HKO blogging ring who I’ve seen but wasn’t able to take screenies of are ripplecloud, JamJam, and noliai.:P

First Day in HH

I spawned (sounds weird) in Harbor, so the first thing I did was rush off to see if I could get to New York and maybe do some Christmas quests I wasn’t able to finish (yes, I know Christmas ended two months ago.:P It doesn’t hurt to try, though). Sad, the portal to New York disappeared.:( I guess I’ll only see Badtz Land on Open Beta already.

I feel lucky that I met a lot of friends in-game in the first day of HH.

First person I saw was the_otakutopian:

Urm, yeah. We had a duel. Rose vs. broom after 20 paces.

Next was Starrfire:

Then Juicy and Tidesong in one (surprised!) screenie:

I also saw Serenity, who offered to give her bee stinger wand guide. Her laptop’s a bit weird, so she said she might poof while we’re talking…

And she did.

Now you see her, now you don’t.XD We weren’t able to trade when she got back though, because there was a surprise server reset that disconnected all of us.

It’s alright Sere, I can get it from you when we’re both online.:P

Oh! And I finally got my dream pet: the rat! Yay! I named him Balloon, since that’s what the little things reminded me of. You know what he told me the first time I brought him out?

Oh dear. I hid him again in a hurry. Must remember to toilet train him first before I take him out for a walk again.x_x

I also did my first quest, with Chococat who seems to be really worried.

See? Told ya he’s worried. Poor guy.

I was able to go to Paris eventually to get the recipe for Cupid, and I got the pot thing done (thanks to the Founders for helping me out on this!) The problem occurred when I started farming for strawberries (first it was the flies, and now there are rocks?o_O)They weren’t growing, even after watering and fertilizing them. I was desperate enough to try the top secret strawberry hypnotism…

But they didn’t even budge.x_x Anyone able to help me out on this? Serenity said that someone said someth about the plants needing sun to grow. Where do I get that?

Happy Hearts - GM-Bacon’s Instructions

For those who are having problems with running the game after manual patching, here’s a set of instructions for you to be able to run it (courtesy of GM-Bacon from the forums):

- Right click on the HKO icon on your desktop and click "Properties"
- You will see a field there that says "Start in". Input the directory you installed HKO in. The default is "C:\Program Files\SanrioTown\Hello Kitty Online" (include the quotation marks)
- Click on OK and you’re done!
