R.I.P. David Eddings

DavidEddings_170x246 I just read on Wikipedia that one of my favorite authors of all time, David Eddings, has passed away last June.:( I’ve talked about him a few times in the past, but never really in detail, so I’d like to dedicate this entry to him and his wife, Leigh, his co-writer who also passed away about a couple of years ago.

The reason why I actually got hooked on fantasy fiction is because of David Eddings, whose books my oldest sister collected. After I discovered "Pawn of Prophecy", I went through all of his books she had of him (18 of ‘em, composed of four series) in less than a couple of weeks, while adjusting to transferring to a new school. What I loved the most about his works is that he combines humor, magic, and in-depth character development in their books, which is awesome. My favorite series would always remain to be "The Belgariad".

I actually only read the non-fantasy novel "Regina’s Song" just a couple of months ago and I loved it, especially because his trademark dry sense of humor can still be seen in that book even if it’s non-fantasy. The reason why I visited the wiki entry of him was actually to see if there’s news of him writing more, only to see that he passed away already.

R.I.P. David Eddings.
