May Movies

Because my Internet’s being a jerk today and giving me a hard time, I decided I’ll postpone today’s vacation entry (since it would take years before the photos would upload at this rate) and instead just blog about the movies I watched last month. It’s funny, because it’s only when I ended up going someplace that I got to watch so many films.

Anyway, here’s the list:

1. X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I’ve been so excited to catch this since it’s going to be featuring Gambit, who’s one of my favorite X-Men in the old cartoons (along with Rogue). Was disappointed, really. The storyline was bleh. It’s like the writers and the producers just thought of bringing one mutant after another to fight Wolverine, who would, of course, end up beating all of them. And their treatment of Gambit was pretty lame, too. It’s like they made him to have the ability of shuffling cards really, really fast and smashing his staff on the ground hard. Bah.

2. Hotel for Dogs. This was the movie they showed on the plane. The only movie. And it was a 12-hour flight. I know I’ve blogged a lot of times that I love dogs, but if you watch a movie four times in a row, you’d get sick of it, especially if it’s not the kind of film you watch in the first place.

3. Taken. I watched this on Blu-Ray in my sister’s place. I already watched this back home, but it was still pretty cool. Liam Neeson was awesome.

4. Star Trek. I loved this one. I never was a Trekkie. Heck, I never watched a Star Trek episode in my life! My main (er, actually only) reason for watching this is for Zachary Quinto, who I love in Heroes. He was completely awesome in this film. He was definitely Spock, not Sylar. The effects were pretty good, and Chris Pine, as Kirk, was pretty funny, but I loved Dr. McCoy more, who had great comic timing.

5. Angels and Demons. My mom’s a Dan Brown fan, so she got us to go with her to watch it. I never read the books (it’s not my interest, and to be honest, I think Dan Brown just picked a controversial topic to sell his works, but that’s just me), so I can’t really say if it stayed true to the story or not. It was okay, the twists were interesting, but ultimately, it’s not the kind of film I’d go for.

6. Wall-E. Yeah, yeah, sue me for only watching it now.XD It was pretty cute, but I liked some other Pixar movies (like Finding Nemo and The Incredibles!) more.

7. Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. Also saw this on Blu-Ray. It’s odd watching a movie and knowing how it would end, since the plot of that was already given back in the first Underworld movie, but it was still pretty cool. For the first time, I was rooting for the Lycans (other than Lucian, anyway) as opposed to the vampires.

8. Terminator: Salvation. One of my fave movies of all time is T2, which I watched way too many times when I was a kid (yeah, T2 isn’t really a children’s movie. Blame cable for that.), so I definitely had to see it. It’s definitely better than T3, which was the worst movie in the series. It’s pretty cool how they developed John Connor’s story, as well as bringing in another plot in the movie, what with Marcus’s story. I was hoping for more of Kyle Reese, since he essentially started it all, but he didn’t get as much screen time as I wanted. Still, it was a pretty good flick.

Other movies I caught on cable were “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”, “The Mummy Returns” and “What Women Want”.

Yep, May’s definitely my movie month this year.:P

  1. That’s a lot of movies, I’ve seen some of those, but I’m not sure when is the next time I’ll be able to see a movie (with the family biz and all). I’m glad you had a movie month. :) Sometimes a fun break is needed.

  2. Yes, definitely. Maybe you need to take a break too, just because everyone needs to relax every now and then.:)
