Disappointed with David
by iheartbadtz:mymelody.com
David and Leigh Eddings are actually the reason why I really love fantasy novels. I’ve loved the couple’s works, my favorite being "Belgariad" and "Malloreon". The "Elenium" and the "Tamuli" were also nice too, though not at the same level as the ones featuring (Bel)Garion. The solo book "The Redemption of Althalus" wasn’t that great anymore, but it was still tolerable. "The Dreamers" isn’t.:( I’m not saying it’s bad, it’s just that, I’ve read their previous works before, and for me, it’s definitely the least of their books. The characters I’ve seen here are the same ones I’ve seen in the old novels. The only difference is, while I adored the characters’ quirks in the previous works, they didn’t have that impact on me. The only recycled ones I liked were Longbow (kinda like Hettar), Keselo (a mix of Berit and Khalad), and Veltan (a more fun version of Belar). The others are just rip-offs of the old characters (pale versions of Belgarath, Polgara, Flute, Silk, Barak, Kring, Vanion, and practically everyone else). To top it off, the conclusion just plain stank. I don’t want to spoil it to anyone who read it, but when I was done with it, I had "???" floating above my head. Not to mention, the covers were only slightly connected to the story itself. Makes you wonder why they chose these in the first place. Urgh. My favorite authors disappointed me.:(
Eddings, that is (made you think!^_^) I just finished reading David and Leigh Eddings’ new series "The Dreamers" (well, it’s not really that new, since the first book was released 2003), and, well, I’m not that happy with it.:(
