1st round Martin Marcelo - Mountain Shadow Dojo * His RAs kill my provinces and my little people. I lost any momentum I could have had.

2nd round Allan Ignacio - Crossroads Fortress * He got gold screwed. We played again afterwards and he promptly beat up my armies.

3rd round Aerol Bibat - Deception’s Veil Dojo * Autowin for me since I know the ins and outs of the SE scorpion decks. big_smile

4th round Mike Rabanal - Seventh Tower * We had the similar goals of creating super units. His stronghold has a nice kill action. Mine had a nice bow action. A miscalculation on his part cost him the game. All my escape artist skills were put to good use! :D

Random L5R stuff from July 25-28

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

Samurai Edition was released on July 25. I only learned about it in the evening  from the L5r Philippines site.  I went to NG Galleria to get a Unicorn starter but alas there were none. They called up Virra Mall and found that they still had a starter there. The salesladies asked me if I was willing to pay for the Unicorn starter at NG Galleria, take a Scorpion starter to NG Virra Mall and swap it there since the ones at Virra Mall needed to have the Scorpion starter delivered to them. I agreed to it and went my merry way and got my Unicorn Starter. The box is pretty!

I scheduled myself for the Berlitz test. I will be calling them on Wednesday 1pm for it.

We had a photoshoot at Kimpura again. It was around 15 dishes this time so it took a long time. It was from 11:30am-2pm. We ate the food afterwards and boy was I full!

I got my second Unicorn starter at NG Glorietta2.  I passed by NG Galleria on my way home and bought a booster pack. I saw a fellow L5R player and I chatted with him. He bought a box of boosters to be shared with his friend and was waiting for said friend to arrive. When his friend arrived, we went to Uncle John’s and commandeered a table. His friend openned up his packs and I traded some of my cards for some of theirs. Another one of their friends arrived and he had a Samurai Legal deck so I played against him. The game took quite a bit of time but with perseverence, the Unicorn trumped the Crane. :)

I hate it when it rains!

Back from reality

I had our Canon digicam fixed and finally got it back.

I took a pic of all the surviving hello kitty stuff that I still have.

The image on the cellphone was a plastic hello kitty figurine of mine that got lost already. The fork was something I got from Gift Gate. The Hello Kitty in a kimono and the one in a bathrobe attire were received as gifts from Meema when she returned to the Philippines for a short vacation from her work in Japan.

I got a TTT Unicorn starter and got 4 rares instead of the normal 3. I made a list of the fixed cards was inside the starters just to prove that I knew what I was talking about when another local L5R player claimed that his list was correct when in fact his lists were missing at least 20 cards per starter.

The French Film Festival is about to begin I can’t wait to watch OSS 117.

The return???

The blog is back! I took a vacation from home and went to my cousin Raoul’s house for Monday to Wednesday and did nothing but eat, sleep, watch TV, and play Rogue Galaxy and Gundam VS Zeta Gundam on the PS2.

I saw Curse of the Golden Flower… and all I can say is wow.

Free Comic Book Day! - Aftermath

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

I got on the RRCG bus towards Galleria but it stopped near the Floodway bridge because it had a flat and I had to wait a good 10 minutes before the next RRCG bus arrived so that I may continue my journey.

I arrived at Comic Odyssey at around 12nn and they only had 3 titles left since I arrived so late already.

  1. Legion of Super Heroes in the 31st Century
  2. Archie Comics Little Archie
  3. Who wants to be a superhero

I browsed the shop then took the 3 titles and went out. I saw Jojo looking at people playing in a .\\:tG tournament sponsored by Neutral Grounds. He just happened to have bought a comic some time before me and got a few nifty titles too. I told him that I went to Galleria just because it was free comic book day  and it ran out of Transformers the Movie Prequel #1 which was the one I looked forward to the most. Lo and behold, he pulls one out and just gave it to me. It’s nice to have friends. Thank you!

#1 Legend of the Five Rings

It’s a collectible card game that I have grown to love. I was first introduced to it in 1998 but I played only mostly casual games with it since as a kid, I had no idea about tournament competetion. Fast forward to 2003 and I found about the Gold Edition and  that there were tournaments being held in Neutral Grounds - Galleria. It was nearly the end of Gold Edition but I still joined the tourney scene with my jank decks. Even though my deck was jank, my understanding of the rules led me to victories against some veteran players. I got a Scorpion/Unicorn Clan Rivals binder and got into the top 3 of our Storyline Tournament for the Yumi of Fire, I got eliminated by the guy who would win the tournament. I joined the Jade Hand after a while to impose purity on others since I heavily relied on my Jade weapons in my tournament decks. I was reborn as the Unicorn’s Feared Duelist.

I continued on to play Diamond and Lotus edition, building my own competetive jank decks and I usually forfeit my chances of winning the Kotei (it counts as somewhat like a National Championship tournament) because I need to be a judge since a whole lot of rulings come up in large tournaments. Thsi last Kotei, I counted the number of rulings I personally made and I reached 97. Yes, I was worked like a horse. :p

 #2 Collecting Stuff

I collect stuff. I collect Compact Discs, Softdrink can tabs, Hello Kitty stuff, cards, comic books, pictures and other stuff. These are not obsessions though, but they may have a little trace of  compulsion. :)

 #3 Video Games

I love playing console games. The PS2 was a wonderful “friend”. The genres I like best are Role-playing, Strategy, and Action/Adventure. In fighting games, I usually play a fast female/chinese character(example: Xianghua of Soulcalibur) usually to annoy my opponents who usually use the large built muscular guys(example: Nightmare of Soulcalibur).  I rarely use the training modes since I  don’t plan on playing really competetively. In gundam games, however I spend a lot of time strategizing how to beat my opponents up with the least amount of effort on my part and leads me to killing the competetion.

That’s it for now. :) I haven’t eaten breakfast yet. hee hee.
