In a wonderful statement to the entire gaming world, the players of Hello Kitty Online show what they’re made of, by pulling together their time and resources for a good cause. Through the in-game charity event “Food for Friends” held from November 3-6, 2008, our players contributed a total of 344,965 different food items from registered guilds, and an additional 894 items from some who just wanted to help! As promised, Sanrio Digital will be donating over 12,000 USD to UNICEF and the Asian Youth Orchestra.

As stated in the mechanics of this event, our main focus in this event is not sheer amount of items, but the effort required to produce them, as a labor of love. And though our previous results showed only item totals, it’s time for us to see just how much these items translate to in the real-world!

Total Values in USD

Among the factors for calculating the equivalents are the type, source and availability of ingredients needed, the time it takes in general to make the item, and the effort that a player must put into making them.

Next, we will be posting the results we know you’ve also been waiting for — our biggest givers, the top 4 guilds, and the list of all our guilds who have contributed and just how much money they helped raise for this cause.

We will be posting the receipts of the deposits made to UNICEF and AYO soon. Once again, we would like to thank all those who participated in this event, for working together, and for waiting in line just to make sure that we get your contributions. We’re all very proud of you! Whatever the results tomorrow, let us all remember what this is truly about — giving! Good luck all!

Gasp! Whatever could it be?! It’s not a riddle, but it boggles you like one. It’s not a quiz, but it will leave you stumped. It’s an enigma, a mystery, a quandary, an uncertainty, and quite a melon-scratcher that’s highly resistant to all prognostications. Heck, even the GMs are befuddled! All they know is to convene in Sanrio Harbor on November 8, 2008 around 10 PM EST.

Find out! The Kevent takes place on the final day of the Founders’ Beta! This is THE event.. The big bang. The big hurrah… don’t miss it for the world!

Hello Kitty Online has been an inspiration to all of us GMs and developers. Now we want HKO to inspire YOU to produce some great art.

Mechanics:

Draw your in-game HKO avatar along with Hello Kitty and friends. Imagine how your character would like to spend a great afternoon with them. Use paper or your favorite software to create the picture.

The drawing style is completely up to you. The only restriction is your drawing must portray your avatar and the characters having fun!

Theme of the drawing:

The theme is “a day with Hello Kitty and Friends” which we feel is not too restrictive and allows for a lot of possibilities - farming together, building a house, resting after a tiring day, travelling together, teaching skills to each other (what IS the secret of that dang Lemon Pie?!), dancing, acting silly, playing music, etc.

What rocks our socks?

  1. Clever ideas are always winners.
  2. The general “mood” it creates.
  3. Facial expressions and pose. If they convey a message, it’s a huge plus.

When you’re done with your masterpiece:

  1. Upload your entries on Dream Studio. It doesn’t matter how many slides or what effects you use… let your imagination run wild!
  2. Use “HKOKittyFriend” as your tag.
  3. Include your in-game name in the “About” part of the video. Don’t forget!
  4. Submissions can begin on November 8, 2008 at 23:59 EST
  5. Deadline for submissions is on November 17, 2008 at 23:59 EST

Though we may be featuring many of your works, we will choose only one (1) winner of this contest, and as part of the Founders’ Finale series, winners will have fame, and win a Diamond Initial Necklace from MBLife. Good luck, have fun creating your works of art! :)

Everyone loooooves a good yarn spinning; be it little kids or those who are a little… seasoned or anyone else in between. Heck, if animals talked, they’d be sharing stories with each other too.

Blog for Thought, is a simple affair: write a blog entry in your SanrioTown.com blog about the Founders’ Beta. It could be about anything, really, as long as it’s in the context of HKO:

  1. Best moments
  2. Fond Memories
  3. Awesome friends
  4. The events
  5. Memorable GMs
  6. Thoughts
  7. The Kevent
  8. Or everything in between.

Your entry may contain pictures, videos, cute, little anecdotes or anything that would help you bring your writing to life. To help us filter participants, the title of your blog post must be “Blog for Thought”.

Here are the rules:

  1. Send the link of your blog entry to hkoevent[at]hellokitty.com along with your in-game name.
  2. The title MUST read: “Blog for Thought
  3. Deadline for submission is on November 17, 2008 at 23:59 EST.

For this one, we’re basically going for creativity. If it makes our hearts flutter, our imaginations run wild and makes us stew in our thoughts and reflections, then your entry will probably win.

We will choose 3 winners for this event, and because this is also part of the Founders’ Finale series, our winners will be receiving a Diamond Initial Necklace from MBLife.  Good luck everyone, and happy writing!

During the last collection period for our in-game charity event “Food for Friends”, we experienced the biggest donation effort by our guilds in the entire event! As you all know, our charity event is now over, and it’s right about time for us to show some results. But before the big one, we would like to show you first just how many items we’ve collected over 5 days, through 9 collection periods. The numbers are truly astounding!

Total Item Count

The combined effort of all our participating guilds has given us a total of 344,965 crafted food items — each one produced from the players’ own time, in-game money and effort. We would never have imagined such numbers, but this goes to show what kind of players walk the streets of Sanrio Land.

The more detailed results will be posted very soon, including a conversion system and the value that Sanrio Digital will be donating to UNICEF and the Asian Youth Orchestra, based on the items you have given. Stay tuned, for we will be making history!

We thank you all again for your participation!
