Umami is the Le Meridien’s Japanese restaurant, the quality is not bad, but it’s really small, more like a coffee shop that happens to service a variety of Japanese food. The location is not central to the City so given the distance I’m surprised it’s as expensive as it is.

Food portions are small, prices are expensive, quality is good but you don’t walk away thinking you’re satisfied because you either feel you paid too much or the portions were too small….

Overall rating I’d give is a B all things considered… certainly not worth taking an extra spin out just for that….

not worth it, quality is so-so….I usually have good experiences there but this time round it wasn’t so good….the Oysters are usually good but the Japanese sushi and sashimi really were mid to low end…

1 cup self-raising flour
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
60g butter
1/2 cup raw sugar
1 cup rolled oats
1 medium apple, grated
2/3 cup apple juice
2 eggs, lightly beaten

1. Grease 12 muffin pans. Sift flour and spices into large bowl, rub in butter, stir in sugar and oats.

2. Make a well, stir in apple, juice and eggs with a fork, mix only until combined.
3. Drop heaped tablespoons of mixture into prepared pans. Bake moderate oven 20 minutes or until golden brown.
