Oh … so romantic!

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Came across this personal “selling” blog with a bunch of Hello Kitty stuff imported from Japan for sale while browsing online, some of the items are really fancy and romantic:

They would go so well with a French style home with all beige/white furniture, but unfortunately they only do trades within Hong Kong and the items are probably too fragile to send overseas anyway!

Great eye candies in any case!  : )

Hello Kitty Retractable Leash

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Hmmm … I am not so sure about this one:  Having a cat walk a dog?

I am neither a cat or dog person so this is definitely not for me … but if you are interested in getting one, try here.

The Insider look of the Hello Kitty Post-Natal Care Centre

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Some say delivering a baby is the most painful event one can ever experience, but with a lot of Hello Kitty right beside you, maybe it won’t be so bad?

I delivered Ethan with a Hello Kitty plush that I bought over myself, but mothers in Taiwan are more fortunate - they can deliver their babies and “sit the moon” (i.e. surviving the first month with a newborn) with Hello Kitty at wegogo post-natal care centre.

A couple in Taiwan returned from visiting a friend at the Centre and took some “insider pictures” - it’s definitely the cutest post-natal care centre I have ever seen!  (Even after watching the so many “Bringing Home Baby” episodes on TLC haha)

I have seen the ads for this centre before but never got this insider look of it … really amazed!  With this, maybe baby #2 ain’t as painful anymore??? lol

Visit here for more amazing pictures of this post-natal care centre or here for the blog article on yam.com (both in Chinese).

Hello Kitty Solar-Power Charger

Monday, May 5th, 2008

You will never have to be worry about running out of power on your favourite cellphone, iPod, mp3, psp, NDS, etc. when you are out on an outdoor trip this summer with this Hello Kitty Solar-Power Charger:

This machine can absorb sunlight and convert into regular electricity.  You can even light up the built-in LED light if lights runout.  When fully charged with “sun energy”, the LED can lit for up to 48 hours!   Subtract the number of daylight hours, I think it will be sufficient to last the 72 hours recommended by the Government of Canada.

Maybe I should consider getting one to place in our emergency kit : D

Hello Kitty SIGG bottles

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

With all the news about harmful BPA out there, I have stopped drinking from any plastic containers (although I solely breastfeed, studies show that some BPA can be transferred to infants via breastmilk), so the Hello Kitty SIGG bottles I have became very best friend lately.

I got two Hello Kitty SIGG bottles, both souvenirs from Switzerland - one from my mother and another from my sister.  Incidentially, they both decided to get me SIGG bottle of this design:

I checked SIGG’s official website and saw two new designs, which looked like this:

But I think the ones I had look cuter! (hohoho)  The only complaint I have is it is not compatible with straws and the openning is too narrow for Ethan to drink from it.

So for Ethan, I use BPA-free pigeon bottles with a straw or a Hello Kitty stainless steel bottle from Sanrio which comes with an extra wide openning.  Sanrio gift shops (at least the ones in Hong Kong) have started carrying this type of bottles after pulling out most of their plastic bottles from the shelves.

Ours looked similar to this, but ours is bright red with a classic Hello Kitty design (too lazy to go take a picture of mine!) :

The best thing about these bottles is that the cap will never go missing when MaMa drinks from the small openning.  And when the cap is off, the edges are smooth enough for baby to drink directly from through the large openning.

Another bonus - both bottles seem to do well in keeping liquids at reasonable cool temperature; i.e., the water or whatever inside won’t get boiling hot in the summer!

Impact from BPAs can include insulin resistance, brain and behavioral impacts, early puberty, altered hormone levels, and other reproductive problems (source: http://www.ewg.org/node/25574); not to mention the other harms we can cause by using  too much plastic - It’s never too late to switch to a BPA free and environmentally friendly bottle - Act Now! : )

Hello Kitty portable DVD machine

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

Many moms told me that when kids grew older, they would never sit still at the dining table unless you entertain them with video games or cartoon show on a portable DVD machine.

I really don’t want to have to do that one day to Ethan, as I really think the dining table should be for dining, not reading, playing or watching TV for that matter.

But if I really have to buy a DVD machine on the go, maybe I will consider this one - a Hello Kitty portable DVD machine!

Machine measures approx 21×17×4.5cm with a TFT display at 480 × 234 pixels. It provides a 16:9 view with an option to change to 4:3 on demand. Price is a little high at 20,790 yen though!

And I still don’t think we should be watching TV at the dining table (but I just remember we have placed a laptop on our kitchen table now … oops! That gotta GO!!!!!!!)

My not-so Hello Kitty Wedding

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

There are some elements of Hello Kitty at my wedding, but not a whole lot … and thinking back, it can be a little more pink than that - I think the guys might disagree tho! (hahaha)

^ Picture with Chinese style Hello Kitty after the tea ceremony

^ Theme pair plushes, signature pen  & ring pillow (glass slippers)

^ Welcome poster with us holding the theme pair plushes

^ My wedding cake (just pink … no Kitties there!)

It’s not a whole lot of Kitties, but the little touches are good enough for me!  Hope you enjoyed it!

A Hello Kitty Wedding that I never had

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

Other than the official Hello Kitty MTR wedding hosted by Sanrio and MTR back in February 14, 2007, there was another really cool Hello Kitty themed wedding in Taiwan back in November 2006, not hosted by Sanrio, but equally as carefully planned.

Here are some pictures from the wedding:

^ Reception table

^ Favor candies boxes piled up in cake shape

^ Toasting glasses

A wedding all in Pink - must be a lot of girl’s dream!

No more insect bites with Hello Kitty’s help!

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

With summer just around the corner, bugs and insects are set to arrive and attack us any second.  But not to worry, Hello Kitty is here to rescue!

This new Hello Kitty insect repellent machine measures approximately 8.5×6.5×11.5cm and works for about 60 days when used 8 hours a day.  It claims to be ultra quiet and can be hang on the wall or sit on a desk whichever works better for you.

Battery is included and sells for 1,491 yen across Japan.

The panda design is so cute!  Fits perfectly with this year’s China Olympics spirit!

Hello Kitty acting as Ambassador for China-Japan Friendship Event

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Read on the news that Hello Kitty has been chosen as the ambassador for the April sakura festival hosted at the Embassy of Japan in China on April 19, 2008.

A little background: It has been exactly thirty years since China and Japan signed the Treaty of Peace and Friendship, so this year has been set as a “friendship exchange” year for Chinese and Japanese teenagers. In recognition of this special event, our beloved Hello Kitty has been invited to host the openning ceremony.

Here are some pictures from the event:

I think the candidate selection is totally appropriate - who else can spread the theme of love and friendship better than Hello Kitty?
