While I was reading through the threads on the forum, I saw that a lot of our players miss their farms. Most of them are currently playing other games on their hand held game consoles which have an HKO theme (or close). Hmmm, I remember during the first CB when everyone was busy building their house and planting Oranges to beat the deadline (it was a riot that time). It was fun, everyone pitched in to help each other and it was a delight to check out the players farms.
Ha ha ha, funny thing is, I did have (some) farm experience. Every summer, me and my cousins would spend our vacation in our province. My grandfather had a small farm and just like my uncles and the farm hands, we also had to earn our keep. As soon as the sun rose in the horizon, we jumped of our beds (to avoid getting whipped with a rattan stick, he he he!), washed up, helped with the preparation for breakfast and after a hearty meal, we had to do our designated chores. Some of us were tasked to clean the house, the others were helping out with farm duties (feeding the livestock, planting, fruit and vegatable picking, etc). Our grandparents or uncles would switch our chores so we can learn other tasks. Usually, after lunch, we had time to rest or what we call “siesta“. The warm summer breeze was so relaxing and we would usually doze off. In the late afternoon, we would have snacks and continue to help out with the chores and begin to prepare for dinner. We spent the evenings playing in the fields when the moon was full or we would just sit in a circle and tell stories until we fell asleep.
Spending time in a farm taught me a lot of things: responsibility, to love nature and appreciate what you’ve sowed. It was also filled with good memories and scars (due to playing and climbing trees, he he he!). Through that experience, me, my cousins and my relatives became closer. We did things together, we helped each other as a team. Although sometimes, we had our arguments and scuffs, at the end of the day, we would talk about it (after being reprimanded by our grandparents, uncles and parents) and patch things up. Those were the days: running from big spiders in the bathroom (while taking a bath), trying to catch chickens, riding at a back of a “carabao” (water buffalo) , climbing fruit trees, cleaning pig pens and watering vegtable patches. These memories helped us grow and whenever we’re sad, we would look back to our times at the farm and smile.
Hmmm… well… looking forward to Open Beta! He he he he! It will be a new experience for everyone. Still hoping that people will tend to their farms and meet new friends, hold parties or just chill after doing quests. This will be interesting and… hoping to make new memories in HKO soon! ^_^
