Hmmm, it’s been a while since I wrote a blog about anything. Let’s start with my experience as a Game Moderator for Hello Kitty Online. If I’ll compare it with the MMOG’s I handled before, this game is in a league of its own. The usual concepts of “griefing“, “PK” and “PVP” have been thrown out. It was replaced with sugar coated, candy-themed, colorful (WoW-ish), cute and generally happy NPCs which will make you say “Awwww!!!! It’s so cute!” I had to brace myself for the inevitable happy praises and neverending comments on how cute the game was.

Spending time with the players was great. They were friendly, polite and cooperative, which made our tasks easier. Once in a while, there were players who needed reminders on the game’s features and rules but it was one of the best GM stints I had in a long time. It was neither easy nor difficult. What made the experience better was the friendships formed between the GMs and the players (which is a first in an MMOG). The game was built on the idea of a social network where players meet, chat, do tasks together and think less of PVP or power levelling. No stress, no huge conflicts, no irate players. Everyday was a day to look forward too!
The end of HKO’s Closed Beta was memorable for all of us. I was happy to hear that the players were expecting an earlier Open Beta and that they were happy with us, the GM team. The honor of playing with them will always be in my thoughts. I am hoping that come Open Beta, the same people will still play HKO and support us. All the hard work we’ve put in HKO will be determined by our players and supporters. I leave my fingers crossed and look forward to meeting my old in-game friends and expecting to meet new ones!

Thanks to the following: Piri, Akio-kun, Micchi, Katie, Tom, Yssah, Pauie, Veue, mEda, (o’:'o) Guild, Jules, SeDvorY, Athena and the GM team!
