A Pair of Crosses

Monday, January 7th, 2008

I really like this photo, not only because of their visual beauty but in what they represent to me.

The shot is nice, because it captures the colors in an awesome way, such that your eyes would be drawn to the flowers because of their vivid red-and-orange colors, but it doesn’t steal your attention from the whole picture. Symbolically for me, it just reminds me that there is beauty in the Cross, that while it may have been an object used to make Someone suffer even if He’s completely innocent, but out of that arose something wonderful for us.

May we never forget the true meaning of the season.

God bless you all.

Reflections

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

You know what makes me fascinated with the picture? The reflection of the trees and the sky on the water. I don’t know if it’s just me, but it seems to be much more vivid and clearer than the real thing, or maybe it’s because of the created “frame” - the color of the sky adds contrast to the reds, greens, and oranges of the surrounding plants.

Sunlight and Orchids

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

This is the same orchid I posted in the past, but this is taken from a little more distance. I love how the sun’s light is captured in the image. It adds warmth to the picture, making the flower’s colors richer. I also like how the second orchid boosts the main one up. At first, it may appear drooping, but when you look at it carefully, it’s definitely different from the  first one. The color’s very different, and it provides a contrast to the purple shade of the bigger orchid.

The Problem of Perfection

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

One of the talks I attended during the conference (ok, so maybe it was the only talk I was able to pay complete attention to) is the one where the speaker talked about grace-filled relationships.

One of the things she mentioned that really stuck was the one about the difficult people. She said that perfectionists, control freaks, and a couple other kinds of people have got to be the hardest individuals to deal with, because you can never please them, no matter what you do. This hit me hard, because until a few years ago, I was both (a perfectionist and a control freak, I mean). I’d be the type who would want things done in a certain way, and if one errs for even the slightest bit, all hell would break loose. I thought initially that I’m doing the people around me a favor by being a nitpicker, because every little mistake or problem could then be spotted and properly dealt with. What I didn’t realize is that sometimes, far from being helpful, I end up hurting people by being completely blunt with them about their mistakes. There’s such a thing called tact, and this is something that the Lord has been trying to teach me (which is still a problem for me sometimes).

Point of this is, no matter how well or good or nice your intentions are, what you might be doing might actually be hurtful to people, and I think it’s best that we try and be aware of everything that we do before we do something, otherwise, we’ll be doing more harm than good.

Old Church

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

I took this shot when my cousins and I went on a road trip. I can’t remember where this was from or what the church is called. I just liked this shot because of the sun up there.:P

Strumming

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

This is the guitar I still haven’t learned to play (actually my second one). I was lying down on the couch when I noticed the guitar hanging over me. Being bored, I took my mobile and snapped this shot.

I think it looks alright, even if there are obviously a lot of fingerprints on its side.

Compare and Contrast

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

One of these days, I would love to take make the first shot similar to the second (which isn’t mine). I’d love to go and take a picture that highlights on one image while making the rest blurry without having to edit the photo. I want to make that object surface, instead of drowning in the background, no matter how busy it might appear to be.

Clouds

Monday, July 16th, 2007

Normally, I’d be more interested in taking sky photos if the clouds were dark and look as though these might release major rainfall almost immediately. As I was walking a few days ago, however, I saw the strange color combination of the clouds and the skies and decided to snap this photo using my cameraphone. It was quite funny while I was trying to take this photo, because the people were looking at me as though I was some sort of deranged tourist who has never seen the sky before. In truth, I’ve never seen this kind, because the clouds were definitely yellowish, as can be seen in the photo. I wonder what made it go into that strange shade.

Blue, Red, Pink, and Purple

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

I took this while we were in the airport. I can’t remember the reason why we were there, only that we were.:P I love the color of the sky here, because it’s a mix of a lot of colors, but it doesn’t look splotchy or confused. Makes me think that God’s the best painter, because He can mix a variety of colors beautifully.
