Wooden Jetty

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

Here’s a nice photo of a wooden jetty I found online (click on the image to be brought to its original source). Compared to the other pictures I’ve posted on my blog before, this one’s a bit different in that it’s not as “clean” as the older ones. It’s grittier (I actually thought it was pixelized at first), but I think that that’s a part of its appeal. Much of the roughness comes from the water, and it gives the shot more dimension, as though making it more real, if that makes any sense.

Barring memories of TV shows highlighting teen angst (I don’t wanna wait for our lives to be over…), I actually like checking out piers and jetties such as these. It’s quite relaxing just staying there and hearing the water lapping gently. Plus, when you’re there late afternoons, you get front row seats to watching amazing sunsets.

Orchid 2

Monday, November 5th, 2007

Here’s another shot my mom took of another of her orchids. I think my photoshutting bug is contagious, because she seems to love taking pictures of stuff these days. Anyway, it’s a good thing, so I don’t really mind.:) I love the colors of the orchids she’s growing right now, although she said that the lavender/lilac/violet ones have all been cut from the driftwood and brought somewhere else. She’s still got some white ones left though.

It’s really cool how my mom grows these. The new set of orchids she actually got were actually dying, but she made them bloom. I wish I had her green thumb sometimes.
