Fire Tree

Monday, July 9th, 2007

I walked around my school campus during the weekend, and I thought I’d have fun and take snapshots of some of the places there. Unfortunately, I only used my cameraphone to take these photos, so some of the pictures have pixelized. The only good thing about it is that some of the pictures ended up looking like paintings instead of photos, because the color looks a bit smudged - check out the top part of this photo to see what I’m trying to explain.

Anyway, this is one of the fire trees in our school. I don’t really know what it’s actually called, but that’s the name we used for these. Actually, this is my favorite plant in the entire campus, because the trees are primarily red and not green this time of the year, which is really pretty. At the time I took the snap, they’re only starting to change color, so there are only a few red parts.

Solitude

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

During the recent retreat that I attended, I decided to take a picture of the bed that I was assigned to. The place really had a “retreat” feel, in the sense that it focused more on making you commune with God and His creations instead of the creature comforts we’re accustomed to. While there was airconditioning, the bed (as you can see) was a single kind, the sheets were thin, and there was no TV - something that suited us just fine, knowing why we were there, anyway. While this shot doesn’t look particularly artistic, I actually like it because it seems a little rustic and has a traveling sort of feel into it - not only because the handle of my luggage can be seen, but because the room and bed aren’t exactly personalized - there were no personal items scattered about to say that there’s actually someone who owns the room. Add that with the leaves that can be seen from the terrace, and you have here a photograph that doesn’t look smooth, not by a long shot, but there’s something peculiarly haunting about it.

Hummingbird

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

One of the animals that fascinates me the most is the hummingbird, not only because they’re really cute birds, but because of their traits. They fly really fast, are really light, can change directions in a snap, and can even fly backwards. That’s pretty fascinating.

I love this photo though. It’s not mine, I got it from this site. I just like the peace it’s giving, in contrast to the motion of the wings of the hummingbird.

Happiness is Bliss

I was going through Sanrio Town a while ago, and I came upon this interesting ad that was playing on the main page. Apparently, there’s this new blog called the Happyblog, which features cute stories and trivia about just about anything and everything.

I wonder if this is made by a member of Sanrio Town or by one of the moderators. I mean, it’s not really talking about something related to Sanrio or Sanrio Town, after all. Maybe they feature members’ blogs now. That would be cool.:)
