The World As I See It

Solitude

During the recent retreat that I attended, I decided to take a picture of the bed that I was assigned to. The place really had a “retreat” feel, in the sense that it focused more on making you commune with God and His creations instead of the creature comforts we’re accustomed to. While there was airconditioning, the bed (as you can see) was a single kind, the sheets were thin, and there was no TV - something that suited us just fine, knowing why we were there, anyway. While this shot doesn’t look particularly artistic, I actually like it because it seems a little rustic and has a traveling sort of feel into it - not only because the handle of my luggage can be seen, but because the room and bed aren’t exactly personalized - there were no personal items scattered about to say that there’s actually someone who owns the room. Add that with the leaves that can be seen from the terrace, and you have here a photograph that doesn’t look smooth, not by a long shot, but there’s something peculiarly haunting about it.

The picture gives off a feeling of peace but at the same time, there’s something quite creepy about it? Hahaha! :D But it’s nice! :D
