Obviously, this photo isn’t mine. I wouldn’t risk taking something like this (something about risking personal safety doesn’t really appeal to me), but I do admire the people who do, if not for their shots, then for their guts.

What a powerful shot…I’m with you on the personal safety thing….but I’d risk it with a…say 10,000X zoom camera? :-p

Yeh, I can imagine it’s very risky taking that photograph by yourself, unless you’re with your loved one. There was a black out here when lightning striked last night, but everything was okay. Phew, close as I thought it was coming through my window and walls.

Not only are you risking your safety, but you need either lightning reflexes with a typical camera, or lots of money to buy a super camera. Even after getting the photo taken, it needs to be rendered or else the lightning bolt will look like one big flash without any definition

Not only are you risking yourself, the bigger obstacle is obtaining lightning reflexes to take the photo with any typical camera. The alternative is obtaining large amounts of cash to buy a super strobe camera. On the other hand, even when the photo has been taken, special rendering will be needed or else the lightning bolt will just look like one big flash!

Wow Ant! You seem to know a lot about photography! Are you a professional?:) I wish I had a fancy camera, but as it is, I only have my cameraphone and my digicam that doesn’t have an optical zoom.:( I only get to take artsy photos via angles, and not through distance and clarity.
Yingdong: Yeah, a huge distance like that would really make the photographer safe.:P I wish I had a high-tech cam.
Ann: That’s really scary. I hope no one was harmed then.
