Not An Artsy Shot But…

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

This wasn’t meant to be artsy shot, but this photo is actually a monument for me, because the moment when this was taken served to propel my increasing fascination with photography. I won’t really go into details about the story behind it, but I’ll tell you what was actually going on in this image. What seems to be a growing forest of trees are actually just a bunch of waist-high plants. I learned this trick from a friend of mine who actually studied photography, and I took this shot barely focusing on my subject, and I was literally on my hands and feet to take it. The wonders of camera magic.

Rivers Flowing Through

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Here is another good photograph, this time from Berkshire Photography. I love the way this photo looks, because it’s calm and serene but wild at the same time. There is both gentleness and strength in one image, and I think this unnamed thing is something that all people should aspire for.

Insect Shot, Tom Hicks Style

Monday, May 28th, 2007

This is another photograph taken by Tom Hicks. I really like how the grasshopper (I think it is, but it could be another kind of insect) is set on silhouette against the blue backdrop. I’m guessing the background is just edited with Photoshop, but it would be interesting if this really shows the actual location where the picture was taken. I wonder what that place would be. It could be the sky, I suppose, but the shade of blue doesn’t really look right.

Another Island Shot

As promised here are some more shots of the mountains and the lake. I have some others if you want to see them, but I still think the first one I posted is the best.:)

Not Really An Artsy Shot But…

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

…It still makes me hungry and happy everytime I look at it. Some friends and made the ice cream while we were studying (or rather cramming) for an important exam, and we thought we needed the sugar to boost our systems. We got hyper, alright, but I don’t think it really helped us in our studying.

Another Tom Hicks Picture

Monday, May 21st, 2007

Tom Hicks is really a photographer whose works I really love, maybe because he takes nature shots and I’m a self-confessed tree hugger. Here is another image he took. I don’t really like lizards (my being a nature lover can only extend so far) but this picture is just too amazing. It seems like the lizard actually posed for this shot.

Heavens Above

Friday, May 18th, 2007

I can’t seem to find the pictures I’ve had of the mountains, so I’ll just post this one I took of the sky. Initially, I was depressed because I thought I wouldn’t be able to get a good shot. The sky was really cloudy then, and I wanted a clear view of the sunset (as usual, I had a sunset fascination attack). I took this picture because I thought the cloud formations were quite interesting, and this was the result.

Mountain Scenery

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

I’m taking a break from beach shots, for this post, at least. This is something I’ve taken a couple of years ago, so it’s not that recent. I still like this one though. When you get down to it, I’m a bigger fan of mountains than beaches, because I like cold climates more.

What I like about the picture is the combination of the blues and the greens. The trees got a bit darker when I uploaded it for some reason, but there’ still an assortment of shades that I think is really pretty. The clouds also add a nice touch to the picture, because they’re really white and hang over the mountains, barely seen, but are still there.

Another cool thing about this picture is the volcano. If you haven’t noticed it yet, it’s the real small land in the middle of the lake. You can see the crater too.

Obviously, there’s really something about this picture that I love.:P I’ll try and post the other pictures I’ve taken of the scenery but from different angles too.

Eyes of A Lion

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

I don’t really know how to upload my own images without having to use a photosharing provider, so I’ll be uploading photos that aren’t mine for now. I’m pretty sure (and the Sanriotown mods have said as much) that the lack of a WYSIWYG editor is just temporary and will be resolved in no time at all.

Lion Eyes

I love this shot. I consider animal pictures as included in nature shots because technically, they are still a part of nature. The Photoshop-ped eyes are just icing to the cake, because it adds a whole new life to the shot. The lion looks pretty serene, but the eye color adds a level of fierceness that reminds onlookers that he’s still the King of the Jungle.

Dream Sunset Shot

Hawaii

This is a “sunset on the beach” shot I want to take. It’s really, really, pretty, and the over-all look is really great. From the setting sun to its reflection on the water, and the framing of the trees, it really captures the scene. For sure, the real thing will probably make the shot pale in comparison, but it’s still quite beautiful.

Now, if I can just get a really good camera and a two-way ticket to Hawaii…
