More about pets…
Wednesday, November 18th, 2009I left some things out in my other guide. So here’s some more info. :)
Pet bags: You may have seen these at the pet merchant. I had no idea what they were for (I figured it was a wand, but they are not.) Some pets come with inventory space, however not all of the space is available. That’s where pet bags come in! They unlock the inventory space of pets. I have a bramtail which has 5 inventory space, but 3 were locked. I bought the small pet bag and it gave 2 inventory spaces. I bought a second one and it freed up the last space. So, if you need 2 spaces, buy the small bag. If you need 3 or more, buy the big bag.
Pet Matching: When in the area of a friendly pet, your pet will become happy. It’s a great way to raise your pets comfort - just go to a city and find someone with a pet that your pet likes, and stand next to them for a bit. Increasing your pets happiness will increase its stats. Try to avoid pets that your pet doesn’t like, since this will make him unhappy.
Pet Breeding: The merchant also offers a breeding service. If you get the 2 pet cards the pet merchant requires, you can combine them to create a new pet… for a fee. Bred pets seem to have better stats and are more powerful than the regular pets. Just know that you won’t get your original cards back.
Pet Food: The best pet food I’ve found is in Florapolis. There are some pet food recipes, but the time and expense required to make the food isn’t really worth it (at least in my opinion.) The onion soup pet food recipe can be bought in Paris - it requires 10 tomatos, 10 onions, and 15 carrots. That’s a lot of farming! And only makes 3 treats.
Storing your pet: If you have 2 or more pets “active” (meaning they are in your pet window), be aware that you must feed all of them. I almost lost my pinbee because I didn’t realize that having her in the other slot I still had to feed her! To avoid this, you can put the pet you’re not using back into the card and keep it in storage - however, you should know that putting the pet back into the card will cause your pet to lose all the experience they have gained in that level. (It won’t lose levels, it will just go back to the beginning of the level they are on.)
Just one more thing… try to keep your pet very well fed and comfortable. The better your pet feels, the more he’ll help you. :) (Especially in giving you more attack power.)

This means your pet is hungry. To feed it, right click pet food you buy at a pet food merchant.
This means your pet is stinky and needs cleaning up. Right click the pet and choose the action that looks like a dustpan.
