A Simple Guide to Farming
Thursday, November 5th, 2009I really enjoy farming in Hello Kitty Online. =) It’s a great way to make money and is needed for quite a few quests. Everyone has their own farm and at later levels can build their own house.

When I got my first quest in Florapolis to grow some fruit, I was really excited to start! But where was my farm? Now I’m sure most found their farm quite easily, but after running around, looking at every menu available to me, and running all the way to London (because of what some guide on the internet said) I grew frustrated. How do I get to my farm?? Turns out the entrance to the farm is in a house. Every city has a portal to farming - and in Florapolis it’s located here, right next to the Tools Merchant:

To actually get inside your farm, you’ll have to talk to the NPC there. You can also visit other people’s farms, if they invite you.
To start farming you’ll need fertilizer, seeds, and water. First right click the fertilizer and choose a box on your farm put it in. Then right click your seeds and click on a fertilized box to plant them. Lastly, your plants need water, so right click the watering can and click on the plant. Voila! Now you are ready to watch your plant grow.
When the plant bears fruit, you can begin gathering. Gather all you can. Once you pick all the fruit off the plant, it will go into a “regrowth” state… move onto the next plant and keep alternating between them. Each plant can be picked 6 times before it will die (5 regrowths)… after the sixth picking, it will die and can be chopped down to clear space.
I made a few mistakes when starting to farm. First, I planted every seed I bought. You really don’t want to do that because you will not be able to gather them all. It’s best to plant only 3 plants at a time - it will keep you constantly busy, and you won’t have to spend water (which is expensive) to keep them alive as you’re gathering. If you begin at the beginning of the day (the time of day is marked at the top left of your screen), you’ll have just enough time to plant and gather 3 plants without going into the second day, saving you money on water.
The second mistake I made was not gathering at all that I could. I gathered only what I needed for the quest and thought I would maintain the farm (it looked so pretty with all the fruits and vegetables!) and I kept watering them day after day. Soon I was broke. This is not a good idea especially for those just starting out without a lot of money. Plant your plants and gather all that you can, until the plant dies. You can save or sell the extra produce.
The last tidbit of advice - some quests call for a certain type of farmable wood, like cherry wood, or chestnut wood. For this you plant the plant as you normally would, and can chop it up to 4 times without killing the plant. You can do this at any time without affecting the fruit production, but on the fifth chop your plant will be destroyed - it’s best to gather all you can before destroying the plant.
Well that’s it! If you have any questions, feel free to ask. =)
Happy farming!
