It’s nice to have the case as well, but if you’re on a budget, the refills will do.
You can just keep them in a nice, clean container.
Brands like Elianto sell refills and the pans even have a nice plastic packaging. MAC refill pans are only kept in cardboard envelopes, but are still easy to keep if you don’t have the magnetic palette.

Some brands vary in pan size. Hehe. I haven’t found a brand that is compatible with another brand’s case yet. XD
