Bloody Mary: How many myths?
Saturday, October 6th, 2007We have all heard some sort of myth about Bloody Mary, but how many myths are there about her? Here are a few myths that I have heard about her:
Mary was once a queen who hated all people who weren’t catholic. She would burn non-catholics at the stake so eventually she was decapitated by a group of the people who she ruled over. Now, if you look in a mirror and spin around 3 times while repeating her name, she will appear, blood dripping from her neck.
At least, thats what I heard in about second grade. Here’s one I heard in fourth grade:
There was a girl named Mary who lived in some town, who was kidnapped by pirates, and ended up totally talking back to them. Big mistake. The captain of the pirate’s ship had just cut off Mary’s head, when he realised that she was his ex-girlfriend who he was still in love with. Smart move. Um, not.
But that’s just my opinion. Here’s another one I heard on an episode of Ghost whisperer:
About 100 years ago, a girl named Mary went into a coma, and everyone thought she had died. Her parents wanted to be sure, though, so when they went to bury her, they tied one end of a string around her hand, and the other end around a bell, so if she woke up, the bell would ring. Later that night, the bell started ringing, but before anyone could get to her, she had died.
If you know any more myths about her, please send them to me. I have always been interested by Bloody Mary. Thanks!
