Here are a few facts about me: I am female, from Vienna, and I’m already more than 40 years old. Because of a chronic illness I had to give up my own company years ago. Therefore I am only a housewife at present. My beloved cohabitee and I live together (for over 10 years now), we also own a 14 year old three-coloured cat and a 17 year old black and white tom-cat.
I started to play HKO at around December 2009. I’ve been playing two accounts till the end of the game up to the last quests, and another two accounts only through the Dream Carnival. I’m just on stand-by right now waiting for the special-seed-feature to return, for Tokyo to be added to the game or for new events in HKO.
Alongside playing HKO I am also still adding stuff to the “Hello Kitty Online”-Wikia sometimes http://hellokittyonline.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page since May 2010. Meanwhile those articles and uploaded pictures of mine extend to a several hundreds of pages. I just felt the urge to do this because all the old articles were giving a totally different impression of HKO to readers interested in HKO as new players…
My significant other and I are keen to not only donate to charitable organizations, but also to try to help and influence society by carefully choosing our daily purchases; like organic food, clothes made of organic fibers, technologies made by companies that are conscious to our environment and human rights, alternative energy-production, compostable plastics, recycling paper and the like.
For at about 20 years I’ve been (and still am) a fan of roleplaying games - whether it’s pen & paper, book-roleplaying, forum-roleplaying, offline computer RPGs, action-RPGs or MMORPGs. Since release I am a faithful LotrO-player at the German roleplaying-server and am known for my knowledge of Tolkiens books. I am also integrated into the political roleplaying in the Online-Game Ryzom on the german Server Leanon. However I would never play WoW, because to me the battlesome written-off gameworld does not appeal, and I am also adversed to PvP.
Before I started playing HKO I have not been a fan of Hello Kitty, because this sweet kitten unfortunately is synonymical for lots of plastic-products which in turn produce large garbage problems in this world. In addition Hello Kitty products are mostly made from commercial, often poison-loaded materials, possibly connected to child-labour and bad conditions for the workpeople in manufacturing factories or on the fields.
HKO is positively different; an online program does not damage the environment. HKO connects humans from all over the world and thereby even aids peace between countries. Some events like food for friends or Earth Day were especially delectable and exemplary in my eyes.
Nevertheless I hesitate to support HKO with real money - because of the inadequate thought-out gameplay not really made for children, the non-truthful advertisement (”create” your own style, pets, farm, house - when in reality it’s just “choose” your style/pet/farm/house, because HKO is not a SIMs-like game), and the forced outgame-activities (level-4-farms) needed for advancement inside the game.
So at the moment I’d rather continue to promote HKO by activities on the internet only (HKO Wikia, blog with hints for HKO, event-participation, forum-activities) and otherwise I am still hoping for improvement of the game - which will hopefully make it seem worth to me then to invest some money.
