Wednesday, the middle of the week. I don’t mind Wednesday too much. Only 2 classes for the day (Intro to Visual Art & First Year Seminar). I must say my Intro to Visual Art class was quite interesting today. I am going to ask everyone the same question that my art teacher asked us this morning: “What does Beyonce’s music video (Single Ladies), an episode of MTV Cribs (Soulja Boy), and Bowe Birds all have in common? You think about that, and I will post my answer (extra credit writing assignment) up tomorrow. Surprisingly enough, they actually share something very in common. First Year Seminar was a miserable 45 minutes of my life. I don’t understand why we jump around to several different assignments every other day. One day it could be making a football roster on powerpoint, the next day writing a paper MLA, APS, ACA, and Chicago style papers. I now have to prepare a two-minute presentation on my assigned fallacy (unrepresentative sample). Lovely..

After finishing class, I took the TTA bus, and went to Wal-Mart for a little shopping trip. Sure it was a lot of fun, but I only had to buy the essentials of life- laundry detergent, body soap, face wash, cleansing pads, a notebook, schultz pretzels, and soy milk! This is exactly what $20 looks like:

Cold, wet, rainy days. Lovely way to get the week started, right? To top that, I could definitely use some more sleep. I seriously am starting to think I have some kind of test anxiety. Monday and Tuesday got off to a bad start because of the spent long hours into the night cramming for my upcoming exams.  Oh the joys of overloading the brain.  On Tuesday morning, I even forced myself out of bed at 5:00 AM to study some more. All of the time and energy to get to Math class, take the exam, and run out of time! I din’t even get to finish, therefore I expect I shall fail for sure. As you can probably imagine, I was quite frustrated and upset. All of my time and enery just to end up a failure? I’m not sure that’s the attitude I should have either. I thought about for awhile, and decided to move on. All I can do is try harder next time. Nothing really too exciting in my world of books and Spinach Wraps. Study, Study, Study. I made sure to inclube Spinach Wraps, as it seems to be what I am living off of these days. For me, talking with friends ,and taking a trip to the Recreational Center is about as fun as it gets for me. I’ve actually formed a great exercise rountine. Not only am I getting in shape, but relieving stress, as well. I have been so stressed the past few days, I felt that I could just fall over and die. Is that even possible, anyways? For sometime to just drop over dead from all of the overwhelming stress in life? I’m almost positive it could happen. Stress is definitely not a good thing, so I’m trying to get myself together, and keep smiling.

Happy Friday, Everyone! Hope all of your had a great day, I sure did!:) My Intro to Visual Art class flew by today,like always. I seem to like my art quite a bit, so it doesn’t tend to be one of those never ending classes. Today’s lecture was very valuable due to the fact it was test review day! My art teacher definitely earned some good points with me- a test review, and confirmation of a huge favor. I asked my art professors permission to take my final exam early, on Dec.9 along with all of my other exams.

Before heading off to Harless Diner for lunch, I studied for my art exam a little. Of course, I had the usual- a healthy, hearty spinach wrap with hummus!

Before going to First Year Seminar,  Kimhyun treated me to coffee at Starbucks! We had iced soy lattes while sitting by the fountain enjoying a sunny,autumn day.

 First Year Seminar was not too bad. Class was held in the third floor of Drinko Library. We attended a useful session on library resources. I definitely need to live library life to the fullest-use the online article databases, card catalog,and check out tons of books! In fact, I think I shall make it my goal to check borrow a book this coming week.

Normally, I have the entire afternoon free after 1 PM. Although, I attended at Writing Workshop at 2:00-2:45 PM. It is a requirement of my English to attend at least 4 Writing Workshops and 3 Writing Center appointments. I must say the Writing Workshop was quite interesting.

I also made plans to go to the Recreation Center. I have really been trying to find the time to go there as much as possible. Although, the fee is included in my tuition, so I should make full use of the exercise equipment. At 4:00, Kim and I went for our evening workout. We went around to all the different exercise equipment, practiced some yoga, and then dinner at Harless Dining Hall. I once again decided on a spinach wrap and vegetable soup. For tea time we had Chai tea and dessert. Tea time is just the greatest, especially on a chilly evening like today. Kim had a piece of chocolate cake, and I had an oatmeal cookie! Oatmeal cookie!  I haven’t had dessert the whole time I’ve been in college, and I had a stressful week. I think I am more than deserving! That oatmeal was pretty good, but maybe a tad bit too sweet.  After having a nice cup of tea, we went for a nice walk around campus. Nothing better than a  nice autumn evening breeze. The rest of my evening consisted of studying. I have a good bit of homework assignments this weekend along with a lot of exam preparation. Wish me luck!

Is it just me or did this week go by extremely slow? Really, is it only Thursday!? I have had so many things on my ‘to-do list” it seems like it should be Friday for sure. Soon enough, it will be here tomorrow. I apologize to those of you who actually do read my blog, I have been failing miserably with updates. I also haven’t included any photos for a long time, I’ll have to work on that. Speaking of which I missed a really great photo opportunity today. I have been a little stressed so I decided to go to Freshens.. for the second day in a row!! What’s this? Well.. Freshens is one of the largest smoothie & frozen treat companies in the U.S., they remain committed to providing customers (like me!) with purposeful nutrition.

We just so happen to  have a Freshens on campus at Marshall. Yestuday, I got a Mango Beach smoothie. Today, I had a frozen vanilla yogurt with fruit toppings (Strawberry and Blueberry). It was great. I really wanted to take a photo, but I didn’t have my camera with me. I am sure there will be plenty more opportunities to take a photo next time for sure!:)

Today hasn’t been too bad. I’m actually quite proud of myself, I’ve been somewhat productive! I’ve done some studying for my first Art exam on Monday, Math homework exercises, and online modules for UNI 100.

After going to all of my classes studying, I went for an evening jog.

Greetings everyone! Hope you are all having a lovely Tuesday. It’s been a few days since I did a blog post. Nothing really too exciting. Sunday was “catch up day” I did laundry and finished all my homework assignements! Yesturday (Monday) was not such a bad day. In my Intro to Visual Art class, our first exam was moved back until Monday; which is great! I now have more time to study! Speaking of exams, I went to biology class this morning, and got my Exam 1 score back~ I definitely did not do as well as I had hoped… I really did study hard, but the true and false questions got me..>.< All I can do is just learn from this experience and study harder for Exam 2.

I would also like to say “Happy Hispanic Heritage Month”to everyone!  Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15, the anniversary of independence for five Latin American countries—Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico declared its independence on September 16, and Chile on September 18. Yesturday at Harless Diner, we a very lovely dinner of Hispanic/Mexican cuisine in observance for HHM.  I absolutely loved the spicy dishes and Cuban Sweet Potatoes!

What a day! It is 12:36 AM, just now finding the time to write a blog post. Today I actually had plans of going to the movies with some friends, but it turned out totally different! After having lunch with Chen and Kim, I returned back to my dorm room, and checked my email. To my surprise, I had an email from Patra at Thai House. She asked for me to come for training 5pM-9:00PM! I took the shuttle from Marshall University to Pullman Square, which took a whole 5 minutes. I got to Pullman Square at about 3:45 PM. I wanted to get there somewhat early so that I could do some looking around. I arrived right in the middle of the 2010 Chili Fest! Did I eat Chili? No! Did I want to eat Chili? No! It was packed. I went to Edible Arrangements and treated myself to a Strawberry Banana Fruthie! It was quite refreshing to a hot day like today. Just a little for 5, I went to Thai House. I was welcomed by all the staff members, put on my apron, and got to work! I studied the menu, learned how to properly set the tables and fold napkins, practiced serving, and..

It wasn’t too busy early in the evening, because of all the Chili Fest excitement. Around 7-8 was when we really started to get business. I worked until about 9:15 PM, and then I was..dinner- ไข่ลูกเขย (khai luuk kheuy (son-in-law eggs) over Jasmine Rice, Chicken, and Thai Spring Rolls with Peanut Sauce. Absolutely delicious!!

Where do I start today!? This is is the most “productive” I’ve had, in well, since I moved to Huntington! 4th week down! I only had two classes today (Intro to Visual Art & First Year Seminar).  Only two classes, but so much happened today!! My Intro to Visual Art was canceled (because the video we were scheduled to watch was somehow removed from Netflix). Rather than hurry home like everyone else, I stayed behind to have a nice chat with my professor (Professor Cook). Quite an interesting conversation, I really should start talking with my professors more.

I pretty much had the whole morning free, until 11:00 AM. At 11:00 AM, I went to my first job interview, at Starbucks! I don’t think I did too bad for my first job interview, let’s see what happens!

I got my first package in my mailbox at Buskirk Hall today! A few weeks ago I requested some Korea travel brochures and information. I shall now start planning my trip to South Korea! At 12:00 noon, I went to eat my daily spinach wrap at Harless Diner, and then headed to my First Year Seminar class at 1:00. We are currently working on a group project, which I am not too enthusiastic about. Somehow, I always end up doing all of the work myself. Why does everyone take advantage of me..

Since it is Friday, I decided to do something fun and totally spontaneous. I took the shuttle to Pullman Square. First, I went to “Thai House”, a Thai restaurant which reccently opened (July). The entire Thai atmosphere was just beautiful! I met the staff members, had a nice conversation, and I was then handed a job application!

Hello Everyone! ^^ I am back once again on this cold, wet, rainy Thursday.  First for everything-Huntington, WV is current under a weather advisery. I must say, it’s quite cold, windy, and rainy-and I feel sorry for the people with no umbrella!;(

Seriously, I have been studying diligently the entire week, therefore I have not been able to update. Let’s see what has happened in Emily’s world Tuesday~Thursday.  I would like to say “I’ve been doing great”, but that we would be a huge exageration! Endless never ending assignments, and cram sessions. Just lovely.. Shall we rewind a little?  

Tuesday-one of the busiest, most stressful days of the week. Biology, Mathematics, Biology Lab, and English. Biology Exam….! From day one, I knew I would have a biology exam on September 16, 2010. My week mainly consisted on trying to balance 5 chapters at once. Sadly, I can only remember so much… Wednesday wasn’t too bad. Art and First Year Seminar class. I have my first exam coming up in art! Time to hit the books, and study!!

Back to today^^ I unwilling rolled out of bed this morning, ate my breakfast, and went to take my 8:00 AM Biology exam, and then spent the afternoon listening to Jay Chou while watching the rain fall. On the bright side of things, the exam was nothing like I had imagined. I definitely thought of the worst-essay questions, charts,etc. No.. It was a 100 question exam, all true/false and multiple choice. The multiple choice questions, I am not so worried about; as for the true/false questions….>.< For a person like me(who will believe just about anything) true/false questions are not the easiest!! I have no idea what kind of score I will end up with. I have even thought of the ultimate treat if I make an A or B: I am going to treat myself to Khao Niaow Ma Muang-Thai Mango Sticky Rice Dessert, at Thai House! If I get a C, I get half of an oatmeal raisin cookie. If I got a D or an F, I get absolutely nothing, more study time.. Wish me luck, everyone!! I want Khao Niaow Ma Muang!!!♥

All in all, this week was loaded with homework, exams; and the dishwasher at Harless Diner (the place where I eat) has been down all week. The highlight of my week-I’ve got nothing, unfortunately. Well, Harless had Tomatoe Soup on Tuesday for dinner! That’s pretty exciting.

Although I continue to read mine, I’m not fully convinced that I even believe it.. Today’s horoscope (at the very beginning of this post) sounds too good to be true. If it really is true, I like what I’m hearing!!

Monday- Intro to Visual Art and First Year Seminar. Guess what, everyone!? I am now entering my 4th week of college. I know, it’s unbelievable!! I have definitely come to conclusion that I’m not so thrilled about getting out of bed, as compared to the first week of school.  My dorm room was extremely cold last night! I did not get much sleep at all~There has definitely been a temperature drop within the past week. Autumn is just around the corner (next Wednesday)!

As of today, I completed my job application for a position at STARBUCKS! I really hope I get this job, wish me luck!!

Today my mom and Micheal came to visit for the first time since I moved in on August 18, 2010! Today really was a great day.  While they were here, we both went down to Taste Of Asia to celebrate our get-together. Here are some of the Taste Of Asia eats that we had:

All in all, I had a super great day! I definitely needed a day like this- to see the happy faces of my mom and Micheal, eat authentic asian cusine  (a break from cafeteria food!). I am really looking forward to doing this again in the near future. After spending the afternoon out for some fun, I spent the rest of the evening working on various assignments. I also attended our weekly Resident Hall Association Meeting tonight. I find it quite interesting that we will be starting “Sundaes on Sunday”- we will now be having an ice cream sundae bar on Sunday nights at Buskirk!

Friday! I have now been at Marshall University finished my third week.  It is amazing how time flies, especially when you are so busy with studies. I feel like I just can’t keep up with time. It is definitely a challenge to balance life when you have a load of college studies. This week has been the busiest thus far, especially due to the fact it was a four day week. The second draft of my personal essay & writers note were due,  I had my first Math exam, weekly quiz in biology, and Vocabulary Quiz 4 in English. As you can imagine, I was pretty stressed.. Now for the weekend~ My weekend consists of: MORE STUDYING.. Today is actually the Marshall Thundering Herd vs.
West Virginia Mountaineers game at 7:00 PM, which I have no attenions on attending. Tonight I plan to study, do laundry, and watch Episode 3 of 命中注定我愛你. Last night, I was able to watch all of Episode 2, which was the most eventful thing this whole week. My friend Chen got me started on this drama, which is great!!  

Today is Tuesday, which means back to the daily college adventure. Yesturday was Labor Day, therefore my university was closed. Technically speaking I “had the day off”, but I really didn’t “have the day” off. I spent the entire day doing homework. Wonderful… Although, I did sleep in one hour later than I normally would, which was quite a blessing. I finally worked diligently and completed Draft 1 of my first formal writing project!  I’m not so sure why, but I had a time getting this one finished. Not really so sure as to why, but I wrote about an amazing personal experience. I’m thinking it’s just so difficult, because I had to take the best experience of my life, and summarize it into a 3-4 essay. Other than that, I set aside the day to complete math and various reading assignments. It could have been worse, I could of had a lot more homework!

As for today, I’m having a rather nice day.^^ To be perfectly honest, I have been a little down for the past few days. Still trying to get acustomed to whole new college experience, and just take everything in. First of all, I am still trying to recover from some serious heartbreak. This time last year, I was just starting my school life at Musashi Ogose High school. I seriously doubt that anyone can imagine how hard this is. September 1 was the 22nd Annual Cutural Festival at my school. One of my most favorite events of all time!! During last year’s cultural festival, I worked to the best of my ability decorating and representing my classroom. I also met so many people and made so many friends. September 3… September 3 made me exactly 2 months being back on American soil… I am still going through some serious reverse culture shock~

Although, I sat down yesturday evening and thought long and hard about somethings. I realized that I need to stay as positive as I possibly can. Things are hard right now, and there’s nothing I can really do to change that. So rather than just be melancholy and miserable, I came to this conclusion based on what Oprah had to say: Living in the moment means letting go of the past and not waiting for the future. It means living your life consciously, aware that each moment you breathe is a gift.

As of yesturday, I took these words into deep consideration, along with some words of incouragement from my mom. I was talking to my mom a few days ago, as always, she incouraged me to hang in there, and keep trying my best. She also told me that I…(”I” of all people was her hero.

I do know one thing, not too many people have a mother as loving and supportive as mine. Things like that make me realize what a truly lucky person I am. Along with having all of wonderful experiences in my life, family and friends in Japan, and a place at Marshall University. I’m sure there are many people who actually applied, but did not get accepted. Although, I am one who did get accepted, and there are a lot of people who would love to be in my position. Therefore, I would like to show more appreciation, dedication, and postive thinking toward my college experience.

What would you do if you shrunk to just 1 inch tall?

My answers:
This is a really interesting question! Would someone standing at 1-inch tall be required to pay airfare?! I take  the opportunity to see the world! I could go anywhere and everywhere, just one pocket away!   

Then, for fun and games, I could make a bowl of ice cream my very own playground.Being 1-inch tall would be of great benefit for the times I feel like I could die of embararssment and want to disappear. Easily done, because no one would see me! The possibilities are endless….
 

Is it just me, or did this week go by extremely fast!? It was Monday, and in the blink of an eye, Friday! I’m not saying that’s such a bad thing, just hard to believe. A second week of college down! I can most definitely say that compared to last week, this week has been at the least 10x easier. I am now able to remember my class locations, all of my professors names, and a few familiar faces of my classmates. Not too thrilled about getting up at crack of dawn every morning, but I manage. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I am able to sleep until 7:00 at the latest. Tuesday and Thursday, I am up at 6:00 AM.

Reflections on the past week…:)

Monday- Beginning of the week, only two classes for the day- Intro to Visual Art and First Year Seminar. Intro to Visual Art class consists of lectures in the form of powerpoints, and watching art documentaries. The class only lasts from 9:00-9:50, I have no  room what so ever to complete. I find the class to be quite interesting and informative.

First Year Seminar on the other hand… We were assigned a project “Athletes and their birthdays”. Basically, we were assigned to one of many sport teams, and were required to to create a roster. Sounds easy enough, right? Well.. actually.. it was quite in depth! By creating a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel, I had to display (…..) for about 7-8 teams from NHL West. All I can say is very time consuming!! Moving on to Tuesday~

Tuesday- not one of my favorite days of the week. I made myself a nice soy latte (with strong, black cofffee!!) and pulled myself together for the day. My first class (Introduction to Biology) starts at 8:00 AM! >.< Just in two weeks of class, biology has grown on me. Biology is the study of life, I am most definitely interested! On Tuesdays, I also have a Biology lab as part of my Introduction to Biology class. We had our first official “lab” today. We worked on Linear Measure, Weight Measure, and Volume Measure, along with graph constructions from our labratory manuals. I have almost convinced myself that Introduction to Composition II is my favorite class of all! For my English class, we were given instructions to write a sketch (a detailed description of an event, person, place, or all three-300 to 500 words and focus on a personal experience) . Today’s homework was to finish reading Chapter 3, study for Vocabulary Quiz #2,  I must say I was quite thrilled, in a very good way. I am still very into writing these days, and believe there is always room for improvement! I worked long enough on my writing sketch, and finished successfully. I think my writing sketch will help me develop a nice composition for my first formal writing assignment (first draft). I have until September 6, 2010.

Back to today (Friday)

Weekend at college^^I had an awesome Saturday-endless hours of homework and fun with friends. This morning, I had brunch with Chen at Harless diner, worked on my math assignments for about 3 hours, and then left for my first outing, off of the college campus! Around 3:00PM,I went to Charleston (about 45 min. from Hutington) with my friends Sadie, Chen, and Heather. For the whole week, my friend Chen and I have been planning to raid the Asian Supermarket-we did just that!:D A nice little asian store full of all kinds of goodies-especially Chinese items. A few Japanese items here and there, and one Korean drink in the whole entire store! I took the opportunity to raid the soymilk esle. I got some small soymilk packs(to take to class), a big carton of unsweetned soymilk, Black Bean Congee, Rice Crackers, and Tofu pudding. There were so many different kinds of Chinese Steamed Buns, huge selection. I came really close to buying some, but came to the conclusion that I have no freezer, and no steamer! Therefore, I am not able to properly make steamed buns, which is really just too bad! >.< Definitely on my list of things to get next time.

Sunday… specially set aside for studies~

T.G.I.F! After one full week at Marshall University, I am hear to share my college experiences with you! Today is Friday (August 27, 2010), so I am going to start back at Monday. The first few days on campus are extremely critical for all new students. It is during this time that I make critical decisions that will have an effect on the rest of my life. After successfully completely WOW week (Week of Welcome), I moved on to my actual college courses on Monday (August 23). College life.. I am not really sure what to say about it.

Monday..definitely not my favorite day of the week~ Although, this Monday was quite exciting! I attended my first two classes- Intro to Visual Art and FIrst Year Seminar. Intro to Visual Art is very similar to my art classes I took in high school. Very basic art course with

12:00PM-5:00 PM Information Technology Service Desk is the only event going on for the last day of Marshall University Week of Welcome! Along with a 9:15 on my floor (1st) meeting in Buskirk Hall. 5 days at Marshall University! What is even harder to believe is classes for the first semester officially begin tomorrow-August 23, 2010! I woke up at 8:15 AM this morning, and headed to the lobby in my dorm to use my laptop and watch television. I was one of the very few actually awake, everyone took full advantage of the free day, and slept in late. On Sunday, brunch starts at 11:00AM at Harless Dinner. As soon as it opened, I went over to have a combination of breakfast and lunch- a toasted peanut butter and banana sandwich, fresh fruit, and an iced soy latte. Yummy:) After breakfast, I walked around campus, and then returned back to my room to tidy up a bit. At 1:00 noon, I took a walk over to Drinko Library. Then, a search around Marhsall University campus to search for my class locations. It was actually noy bad at all. The map was very easy to follow, and I found everything with no problem. It took a large amount of stress away. Now, I am feeling confident, I am ready to get started!!^0^

Today I saw so many new faces-the upperclassman moved in yesturday evening all of today. No dinner at Harless Dinner, today we had a picnic/barbeque outside. I’m not really too fond of the picnic menu.. Always hamburgers, hotdogs, maccaroni & cheese, potatoe salad, chips etc.- all of the things I do not eat. Although, there is always at least one vegetarian option, which I most definitely took advantage of. It was some kind of vegetarian version of Manwich Sloppy Joes. It wasn’t too bad, I dressed it up some by adding fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and ketchup & mustard on a bun.

   I would say that I am somewhere in the middle. If I see a  fashion trend that I like, I will follow and somehow combine it with my own style.
2. Do you match/colour-code everything?
   99.5% of the time! I am a ‘type A’, so I am very particular about things like that. Everything has to match and be colour-coded!
3.  Do you plan your outfits carefully in advance?                        Most of time I do plan my outfits carefully in advance. For me, it just reduces so much stress in my life. A nice outfit does take planning in advance-such as color coordination and such. I would much rather have a planned outfit ready to go, than absentmindedly throw something together at the last minute!

As you can, today”s schedule was rather…compared to my other days of Welcome Week activities here at Marshall University. With no intentions of waking up early, I got out of bed at 8:15 AM. Got ready and headed out for the day. Normally I would go right to breakfast, because Harless Dinner only serves Brunch from 11:00 AM-1:30 noon. I took the shuttle from Marshall University to Target for one last shopping trip before Monday. I would never skip breakfast, but I had no choice today. I had to settle for an Oatmeal Raisin Granola bar to satisfy my hunger. The shuttle to Target left Marshall at 11:00 AM, I shopped until about 1:30 noon, and took the bus back at 2:00.

Today was pretty much a “do as you please-free day” A day to relax and refresh. I did not go to the Vaccination Clinic (up to date on all vaccinations), and I decided not to take part in the RecFest (extremely crowded with sporting events-mostly guys). I decided to spend the afternoon getting myself more familiar with the campus, went to Drinko Library, etc. I made a trip to the Information Technology Desk to inquire information for wireless access in my dorm room. Unfortunately, no luck.  Obviously, the wireless connection is not strong enough, therefore I will be using my computer in the lobby.:(

From 8:30 PM-11:30 PM, I attended the Glow Party at the Marshall Student Center. Was this “Glow Party” exactly what I expected? I can”t say that it was, but I definitely saw some pretty interesting things. I have never been to a Glow Party before, so it was a totally new thing for me. Glow Sticks, Black Lights, Paint, Disco Balls, Flashing Lights, and crazy dancing people everywhere! It was actually a lot of fun, watching some people make complete fools out of themselves, talking with friends, and listening to some great music. I left and returned to my dorm at about 9:45 PM. I am not one to stay out late, and I don’t want to even get that started. It is so important to get enough sleep-especially for a college student. Overall, I really enjoyed and had a great time!

Today I had my occasional sweet treat of SU JUNG GWA.  Su Jung Gwa is a Korean traditional beverage made with dried persimmons, ginger, cinnamon and sugar. It tastes sweet and a little spicy and when you serve this you usually sprinkle some pine nuts on it. You can drink this as a dessert. Has anyone ever tried Su Jung Gwa before!? This can of Su Jung Gwa was a gift, thanks to my friend Joshua!!

Today is my 3rd day at Marshall University, which is quite hard to believe! 3 days already!?! Today was another day full of fun activities for the Week of Welcome at Marshall University.

Today I woke up at 7:00 AM, got ready, and headed out to breakfast at Harless Diner with all of the girls from 1st floor. I really like how we have all been getting together for meals. A great way to get connected to others around me. It was a little cold this morning, so I had a nice bowl of oatmeal topped with fresh fruit and soymilk.  Because of the fact that I am so health concious, It made me extremely happy to learn that soymilk is available upon request, along with gluten free bread! I most definitely plan on getting soymilk often, and I hope to try the gluten free bread, as well!:) I will not be a vicitim of the “Freshman 15″!

After having my breakfast, we all gathered in front on Morrow Library for a “We Are…Marshall” Class Photo. I didn’t really notice how many students there were, until I was standing in the middle of hundreds upon hundreds of my fellow classmates.

Today is the offcial start of WOW (Week of Welcome) at Marshall University!! This morning, I got up, ate my morning oatmeal, packed my car, and set off for Marshall University. Sounds exciting, right!? Actually, I didn’t feel so excited this morning. I was tired, stressed, anxious, excited, and worried!! Tired from packing all of my things last evening until about 2:00 AM, Stressed about everything that could and would go wrong, Anxious to make it there on time, excited about starting a new chapter in my life, and worried about how everything will turn out.

I did manage to waste a little time this morning during all of the rush and panic. Rather than leaving at 6:00 AM(as planned), we ended up leaving at about 7:15 AM. Not too bad~ I arrived in Huntington at about 11:00 AM, with rain! >.< Rain on my move-in day…!! It wasn”t too bad, just a drizzle.

First and foremost, I completed my registration and paperwork, and then went to my dorm room to meet my roommate, Mikyla. I couldn”t ask for a better roommate!;) After meeting and greeting, I started the fun- unpacking all of my things from the car, and moving everything to my dorm room. Although, lucky for me, my dorm room is on the first floor. So, I only had to make about 3 trips, thanks to the wonderful cart I borrowed.

Finally finished organizing everything on my side of the room at about 12:30 noon. After all of that work, I definitely worked up quite an appetite!;) So, we all went to have lunch together at the cafeteria in the student center. I must say I  was quite impressed. A nice variety of food stations, and a really well constructed cafeteria.

Today’s Schedule:

I didn’t really think about when I would actually say this but… I am starting my new life at Marshall University tomorrow.. As of today, I have no idea what to say, or exactly how I should feel. I just have so many mixed feelings right now. Freshman year….hopeful…excited…..anxious

Today was a girls’ day out with my mom and younger sister. We went to Meadowbrook Mall for lunch and some shopping! Lunch was great, maguro& ikura sushi and miso soup from TOKYO (name of restaurant).

 I had a HUGE shopping list. So many things to buy with so little time~ I must say shopping from college is not so easy. My advice: Do not wait until the last minute, like I did! It was so stressful..Especially looking for all sorts of things of my list, and not finding easily.

Q: What was your favourite Birthday ever and what made it so special?

My favorite birthday ever was my 18th birthday in Japan. Nearly all my fellow Rotarians were there. Everyone sang “Happy Birthday”to me, and surprised me with a super cute cake, a beautiful bouquet, and presents. 

I am looking forward for a new Sunday meme~!!

Summer vacation is coming to an end and college students just like myself will soon be headed back to school! We have all sorts of things to worry about such as classes, schedules, clothes, dorm decorations, transportation,etc. As of today I am finishing final preparations for my big move to Huntington on August 18. I still have a little shopping and some packing to do. A few days ago, I called and discussed living arrangements with my room mate, Kai! She seems like a very sweet, outgoing girl, really looking forward to meeting her. Although, we are waiting to make most decisions once we have completely moved in. Kai said that she had several bright colored things. So, I am going to go with the idea of bright, happy colors, as well!

Today! Quite an exciting day~ I traveled from PA to WV for the last time. On the way out of PA, we stopped for spring rolls at my favorite Vietnamese restaurant!;) Spring rolls are just great on a hot summer day. Kim’s Oriental Foods was also a must; to stock up on a few items for college-Japanese Rice Crackers, Chinese Preserved Plum Snack, Tapioca Pearls (for bubble tea), 2 bags of soy drink mix, and a  can of Soy w/ Tapioca Pearl drink from Taiwan!   

One of the best drinks ever! If you haven”t tried it before, I strongly recommend it for you!!

I would have liked to buy more things, but I was somewhat pressed for time. ;( I am really hoping that there is an asian grocery store somewhere close where I can stock up on things once in awhile!

So here you have it, my new blog! I have attempted to create several blogs in the past, but always failed miserably at maintaining them.. It is a personal goal to create and actually keep a blog for once! Keeping a blog is a great way to express emotions, treasure memories, and share experiences with others. I am also looking to improve my writing, interpretation, communication, and social skills! If you have any interest,by all means read my posts!

I am planning on a double major in International business and Japanese at Marshall University (class of 2014), in Hunington, WV. Hopefully in a few years I would have graduated with my bachelors degree from Elizbeth Business college! I would love to use my language skills to create a bridge between the United States of America in Japan, in the world of business.  I am also interested in travel journalism,  which I most certainly plan to do in my free time.
