Pokemon DS Lite

pokemon ds black

I couldn’t help myself. I had to buy this. Hehe.

I’ve been a big Pokemon fan since who knows when and I’ve always wanted to own one of those exclusive Pokemon consoles or handhelds. Usually, the Pokemon exclusive ones can’t be purchased directly from the store. The rights to buy are usually raffled off. Making the item harder to get. They did that for the yellow Pikachu Japan DS which I’ve always dreamed of.

Recently though, the US released their own exclusive version and it can easily be purchased in stores at a very reasonable price! XD This version has a Dialga and Palkia print. Printed in gold and silver, the graceful beasts stands out most sharply against the black backdrop on the DS. Aside from the limited design, the package also comes with a matching case, a DVD of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness and a collectible mini poster.

I’m so happy!!! XD

Pikachu Gameboy Advance SP

Monday, February 11th, 2008

I couldn’t resist it…it was Pikachu afterall. @_@ I got this limited edition unit from the mall. Mall prices wasn’t so bad for this unit compared to specialty gaming shops. I also got some free games, accessories and 1 year warranty.

Rareness indeed, since this is an iQue unit. iQue is also owned by Nintendo but they only have units made exclusively for the China market. They even have a Mario edition, a Metroid version was also released but is hard to find now even in internet shops.

I think quality wise, iQue units are also good compared to their Japanese and American counterparts. But…but…almost everything is made in China now, right? Oh well, that doesn’t matter, just as long as it’s Pikachu! O_O Bzzzzt!

Gundam 00 DS Game

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

Good news Gundam fans and Nintendo DS owners! A new Gundam game title is scheduled to be released March 2008. The game will be based on the most recent Gundam series, Gundam 00. Now don’t ask me if this game will be in English. Like most of the previously released Gundam games, only a few was translated.

The language doesn’t seem to be a challenge since it’s not like those turn-based SD Gundam and Super Robot Wars games. With 3D graphics, you can fly and shoot your way to victory.

Not only will you enjoy the gameplay, it also includes a training guide that will help you make Gundam plastic models called GUNPLA Navi! I think this is where you might need basic Japanese reading skills. But if you’re really a Gundam fan or is very much willing to learn, that will not be a problem.

Promotional tactic or not, it’s still a great way to encourage newbies to the wonderful world of Gundam plastic model kits. It also shows that the Nintendo DS is not purely a gaming hand-held. It can be used as a learning tool as well. Hehe.

Besides the special mode in the game, a special Gundam model, “Gundam Exia Rollout Colour Ver.”, will be included in the pre-order versions! The game just keeps getting better and better.

DS Lite: The Legend of Zelda version

Monday, November 26th, 2007

zeldabundledsHere’s a new Nintendo DS bundle featuring The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass game and a special DS Lite unit. The DS will be a solid gold color with the triforce symbol found in the lower right corner of the upper portion of the DS; also included is a gold stylus.

The game follows the adventures of Link and Tetra, the leader of a band of pirates, as they discover a ghost ship in dense fog. Link falls into the ocean when Tetra gets into trouble, and he wakes up alone on the shore of a mysterious island. Throughout the game, Link collects sand for his Phantom Hourglass, which allows him to explore deeper and deeper into a time-limited dungeon in his quest to find Tetra.

With an easy-to-understand story and ease of control, it will surely attract casual and younger players who might be new to Zelda games. The game features a two-player battle mode that can be activated via the game’s Wi-Fi connection, as well as the ability to play the entire game with only the Nintendo DS touch screen.

Hello Kitty DS Lite Skins

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

kitty ds skins To celebrate my host’s special day (yup, it was Hello Kitty’s birthday last November 1, and it’s never too late to greet her and her twin sister Mimmy), here’s a special birthday entry showing how Hello Kitty has invaded the gaming world as well.

Hello Kitty has worn many hats over the years: she’s been a ballerina, a home-maker, a guitar hero, even a pilot. But now she’s put aside old hats to try on a new skin… for the DS Lite, that is.

Sanrio Japan has released special Hello Kitty decoration film for Japan’s most popular handheld, the Nintendo DS Lite, which includes both their flagship character and her friend, Charmmy. Consumers have four different skins to choose from, each one costing 680 yen (about $6.00). Sanrio, which is known to slap Hello Kitty’s face on just about anything (including guitar straps, toasters, and even cars) is sure that consumers will be unable to resist the siren song of Kitty in her latest form.

SD Gundam G Generation Cross Drive

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

(DS version)

This is a new turn-based strategy Gundam game for the DS. Fans of the anime and manga will love the memorial stages, wherein you get to re-enact famous battles from the Gundam universe. There are also special techniques in this game, thus the title Cross Drive.

You can assign pilots to almost every unit you want, but by setting specific combinations (put each character in their proper unit) you can unlock a few secret gameplay sequences, which may grant you extra abilities, among which many “Cross Drives” are present. This technique, which also gives the name to this game, requires you to have certain units in the battlefield, which you should place in particular spots. When that happens, they’ll be able to unleash a powerful combination move that damages all your opponents, providing you with quicker victories.

For those still planning on getting this title, here’s promotional clip:

DS Lite: SD Gundam edition

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

As if packing 500 characters, 300 mobile suits, and over 120 stages from 15 different Gundam series wasn’t fan service enough, Bandai Namco released a special edition Gundam DS Lite.

As a promotion for the SD Gundam G Generation: Crossdrive game, it was packaged with a limited edition RX-93 Nu Gundam Nintendo DS Lite.  This package was released last August 9, 2007 and was sold for 21,840 yen (USD$176).

The customized, crystal-white handheld features the same red branding seen on Amuro Ray’s Rx-93 Nu Gundam in the animated film, Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack.

The Crossdrive Gundam game even topped the sales chart in Japan. For the week ending August 12, 2007, it sold close to 138,000 units.
