To celebrate my host’s special day (yup, it was Hello Kitty’s birthday last November 1, and it’s never too late to greet her and her twin sister Mimmy), here’s a special birthday entry showing how Hello Kitty has invaded the gaming world as well.

Hello Kitty has worn many hats over the years: she’s been a ballerina, a home-maker, a guitar hero, even a pilot. But now she’s put aside old hats to try on a new skin… for the DS Lite, that is.

Sanrio Japan has released special Hello Kitty decoration film for Japan’s most popular handheld, the Nintendo DS Lite, which includes both their flagship character and her friend, Charmmy. Consumers have four different skins to choose from, each one costing 680 yen (about $6.00). Sanrio, which is known to slap Hello Kitty’s face on just about anything (including guitar straps, toasters, and even cars) is sure that consumers will be unable to resist the siren song of Kitty in her latest form.

It’s a  lucky year for all mecha fans! Banpresto is releasing a lot of games this year, from OGS, OG Gaiden, ACE 3 and now Scramble Commander 2!

No SD Mecha’s here, Banpresto ditches tradition for something new: Full Form (FF) Super Robots as well as Real Robots. It’s a heart clenching experience to be able to play a different SRW game because of the height of the Mecha’s this time around. Everything is 3D and the attack animations are gone, so all your units attack at the same time and in REAL time. Super size!
