Director's Club Interviews: Girlinblue

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

We were privileged to interview Girlinblue, a Dreamstudio user who was featured as an Editor’s Pick last January.

DC:What was the message behind your video, “True Colors” ?
G: I’ve always loved the song, and i thought of making a video that has images that would go along with it

DC: What inspired you to make your videos?
G: I guess I make my videos with a vision on my mind, as what someone who viewed one of these said. I try and put who I am in the videos that I make.

DC: Would you recommend using Dreamstudio to your family and friends?
G:
Oh yeah, definitely, especially those who love taking snapshots as much as I do.

DC:Will you make another Dreamstudio video again soon? When?
G:
I’m actually planning to create another one sometime soon, I just haven’t fully ironed out the details in my head yet.

DC: Do you have dreams of directing films in the future?
G:Directing? I’d want to go into producing or scriptwriting though.

DC: Do you think Dreamstudio can be a good training ground for directing?
G: It could be, since the Dream Studio users would have to figure out what stuff they have to put in different slides. I think producing could be also be developed by Dream Studio, probably even more than directing.

DC: What topics do you mostly like to make videos about?
G: Inspirational stuff, usually. I like putting good images, whether of people or places, and then putting them together along with good music to come up with a theme. I’ve had a Hello Kitty-themed video put up also, though.

DC: How has Dreamstudio helped you to express yourself?
G: Yes! It’s really an outlet for me to be express my creativity.

DC: Have other users’ comments helped you?
G: Yeah. It’s pretty cool to have people say good things about something you’ve made. It makes me want to do more.

DC: Are there videos from other users that you enjoy?
G: I love looking at the videos made by the people on Dream Studio, although sometimes, I couldn’t leave comments because of time constraints. I love the ones that have themes in their videos too, instead of those that just have random stuff in them. There’s one I remember in particular, which had My Melody hanging out with a Lego block. That was really cool.

DC: Do you look at other peoples’ videos for ideas and for inspiration?
G: In a way, I guess. I see their videos and I think, “Hey, they used these images in a very unique way. Why not try doing something similar?” Users go and use the default Sanrio images and actually put them in a solid storyline, and that’s something I want to do in the near-future.

DC: How do you find Dreamstudio’s features in terms of ease and functionality?
G: It’s very user-friendly, and that’s what I like about it, especially in using effects. You just click on the one you want, apply, and you’re all set! Reminds me of shopping. lol

DC: Do you have any suggestions on how Dreamstudio can be improved?
G: Probably include more effects, including the Sanrio characters, and most especially the moving ones. Those are pretty cute.

DC: Are there any tips you can give to Dream Studio users?
G: I guess they should really maximize their using of Dream Studio. It’s really sad when you see videos that use only the default images or only have one slide with one picture or effect on it. My advice would be to include their own images there and not just default ones, and really make use of the effects, because these really make videos more interesting.
