I never noticed these scarves until I read a blog by Aileen in her multiply and while I was browsing Ebay for wool scarves. I found some info about them in wikipedia.

While I was going around Tutuban mall 2 days ago, looking for wool sweaters, I saw them again and I knew at that moment, the buying itch has been initiated! hahaha I asked the sales lady on the price and she said it costs 300php per scarf. After series of questions and chit chats, I didn’t buy the scarf because I didn’t have an extra money for sideline shopping. So here I am again, scouring Ebay and online stores for these scarves and I found a seller who sells them 2 yashmaghs for 400ph(shipping included) and 2 shemaghs for 500php (shipping included) and 750php for 2 surbans (shipping included). Isn’t that a great deal? Here are some the scarves he sell:

Sorry, but what’s the difference between Surban, Shemagh and Yahsmagh scarves?o_O On the girl it looks nice, but on the guy, not so much (especially since it’s bright pink), imho.:P

I heartbadz: maybe they differ on the weave and the design but collectively, they are all male headdress called keffiyeh.
chainbaby: which country do you live?

Haha, I’m sure you’ll be able buy them at a KILLER price (as usual…)! Argh, how I envy your bargain shopping skills!
I really think the scarves are cute but to be honest, I feel a little iffy about wearing something that carries such a strong statement for a particular group of people. For me, it doesn’t feel right wearing it for the sake of fashion… maybe I will wear a fring-y scarf with a totally different design/pattern instead.

Yeah, I’ll go with Denise, I’ll just stick to conventional scarves/ponchos.:P I was at the flea market over the weekend (hurray!) and I saw this really pretty poncho! Sadly, it was too large for me, so I didn’t buy it.:(

Very, very, very cheap.^_^ Probably around 1/16 of its original price. When I tried it on, though, it fell on the floor. It’s either it’s that big, or I’m that small.o_O

iheartbadz: yeah it’s really big… my brother said i could strangle myself with it! hahaha
