DeevFactor’s Blog About… uhh… stuff.
It’s a blog written by some guy on the internet. Not really all that exciting, right?

A couple of random HKO NA screenshots.

September 13th, 2009 by deevfactor:mymelody.com

I didn’t really take many screenshots other than some bugs.  I’ll probably do that on my own time.

While HKO is in “closed beta”* for the 318th time, a couple of events have taken place.  One of those events was actually something I thought of since the beta started, a marathon race from Sanrio Harbor to Beijing.

The starting lineup for your cloooooooosed beta testeeeeeeeers!

It is quite a lineup, mostly filled with members of the Monte Carlo/Python guild (more on that in a sec).  The racing action was mostly tepid walking, but the start of the race would be very much like the start of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

Much like the real life race, people got disconnected, knocked out by various monsters, hopelessly lost, etc.  In the end, only a select few get the honor of wearing some suit/dress that isn’t considered an accessory.  Hey, at least it’s for the [temporary] collection.

I was able to create the first guild (I think) in the North American “closed beta”, but it unfortunately was the victim of not existing on one of the realms (which just happens to be the Wonderful realm, currently the only realm at the time of writing).  I named it “Monte Carlo”, where the Formula One circuit races at every season.  We later migrated over to Monte Python, even though I was sure the issue was going to be fixed.  Makes no difference, since everything will be wiped before open beta.

Since then, I’ve missed using the really cute My Melody emotes.  But at least I was able to reunite with her. :D

There she is!!

I like how the name is done correctly.  Nothing wrong with her being called Melody, but the name My Melody is such a wonderful name**.  I wonder if Kuromi will make an appearance as an NPC eventually.

* - not really a closed beta since (as far as I’m aware of) the install CD/DVD was given out to people visiting the Aeria booth at PAX; thank you all for constantly bringing down the game servers

** - If you’re a girl and thinking of putting the word “My” in front of it, it’s probably because you want my attention or something.

Still Around

August 30th, 2009 by deevfactor:mymelody.com

Yeah, I know that I haven’t been updated the blog in who know’s how long, but I want to mention that I’m still here and I’m still lazy.  At least the good news is that the North American beta of HKO is finally beginning next week.  Someone said Friday, so I’m guessing that people will be getting their beta keys soon.  Hopefully, I’ll be lucky enough to get one of those.

Another thing that I’m looking forward to is [at least] the demo for Need for Speed: Shift.  I already have the game pre-ordered, so it shouldn’t be too long before the game comes out.  The last NFS game I bought was Most Wanted and I never much cared about the past few releases (they were mostly similar aside from ProStreet, of which I read is unappreciated due to being different from the others).

I’m strongly considering getting a PSP mostly due to Gran Turismo finally getting a release on the system.  There are also some good games out or coming soon.  Problem is that I don’t have that kind of money.  I actually traded in the Wii not too long ago in the hopes that I can get enough, but I came up short.  At least I get some credit to pay off the pre-order and pick up whatever games might interest me.

Let’s get back on the topic of HKO.  It looks like there will be some new GMs over at the upcoming beta, one of them being named GM_Law.  Could he be Marshall Law from the Tekken series or Sammo Law from the TV show Martial Law?

I haven’t made my appearance at the Aeria HKO forum, so I might be posting over there soon.  The posts there are the usual: “When’s the game coming out?” “I’m excited. lolrofl”  Stuff like that.  Things are likely going to change once beta comes out.

I’m done for now. Snoooooorrrre!

Post-HKO Happy Hearts To-do list.

February 24th, 2009 by deevfactor:mymelody.com

As I pretty much spent nearly all my free time on HKO (that fact I was on that much is a big enough surprise), there were some things I wanted to do that I couldn’t do.

So, here’s what I’ll probably be up to:

  • Finally get started on Okami for the Wii.

I received Okami for the Wii from the Goozex trade-in service (which I highly recommend if you like trading in already played games).  I wanted to get started on it, then I’m sure you know what’s next. :P

Now of course, I’ve heard some good things about the game, so I’m looking to start soon.  Maybe I should get a replacement cover for the box art as there’s that IGN watermark on it.  I still find it funny.

  •  Taking part of numerous fantasy sports games.

While I wouldn’t really call myself a sports fan (I prefer auto racing personally), sometimes I like to put myself in several fantasy sports games.  Currently, I’m in Goal Line Blitz, Clutch Racing, and awaiting the official launch of Powerplay Manager for Hockey.  The beta for that game should be finished soon.  I also have myself preregistered for the Quick Hit Football beta.

I’m also in a few fantasy NASCAR leagues as well and I started my fantasy baseball league at Fox Sports.  I bet I won’t be keeping up with those leagues after a couple of months. :P

Interesting that you should know this, but I named one of my players in GLB after a couple of Sanrio characters.

Kuromi and Baku are ready for some FOOTBAAAAAAAAAALL!!!!!!!111!1!11!!11

Maybe you might be ready for some football.  Yeah, I know that the football season is over.  Well, at least there’s some aren… no?  There’s no arena football season this year?  Umm… can I go back to the year 2001 so I can watch the XFL at least?

Well, I guess I’m out of options…

  • Go through my backlog of games I haven’t completed yet.

You know something?  I have a number of games I haven’t completed yet, yet I continue to buy more games.  I recently got Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection, so that makes my game backlog balloon by nearly 40 games in one shot!  There’s also GTA IV that I really should get back to.  Actually, I restarted my save a little while ago, hoping that if I start over I can have the will to finish it.  Well, it’s been weeks since I last played it and I’m further from the goal than before.  That’s only the beginning… and I’m certain that my game backlog will continue to grow…

  • At least return the DVDs once I watch them

I rent from Netflix, so I can pretty much get whatever movie I want.  It’s kinda nice at first, but much like my game backlog, the movies and TV shows pile up in my queue list.  Currently, I have the following: Fighting Spirit Vol. 5, Kart Racer, and Idiocracy.  I’ve watched the movies once and I’ve been wanting to watch at least one of them again.  I’ve only watched two of the six episodes on the Fighting Spirit disc so far.

And with the massive backlog of movies and TV shows waiting to be watched… there’s no way I can get through them all… o_o

  • Finally enter those MyCoke Rewards points

That container which is overflowing with bottlecaps?  Yep… that’s what I keep saying.  “I’ll get to them tomorrow.”  How long have I’ve been saying that?  Far too long it seems…  I’ll get to those soon I hope…

I guess that’s all I need to do for the time being.

The last thing I saw before the servers closed. Also: The greatest in-game wedding. Ever!

February 23rd, 2009 by deevfactor:mymelody.com

The group says farewell to HKO… for now.

Notice the huge amount of people from the HKO Founders and Sailoria guilds.  Of course, I made sure I got to the middle as early as possible.

It was a great run while it lasted.  Just one week ago, I was a lowly level 1 that had to struggle to survive.  But the people have been nice.  I managed to go through many of the quests while not being aligned with a guild.

Once the charity event started, I had to join a guild.  And so I did.  I joined the Tiger Melody guild.  While not the most active guild in HKO, the people that were around were fun to talk to.

Ultimately, I ended up having an in-game marriage to an incredible girl!  Actually… it’s an NPC I married and her name is Melody.  Still, it happened to be THE wedding to go to.

Thing is, not that many people showed up outside of the guild members.  But who just happened to show up?

A GM appears!

It so happens that a bacon-flavored GM decides to show up. However, that’s not the only one to witness the wedding.  It turned out that a total of FOUR GMs showed up.  I was worried that I would be in a massive amount of trouble for marrying an NPC.

But in truth, they wanted to witness history in the making, at least on HKO.  I can’t seem to recall any NPC/Player marriages on MMORPGs.  Then again, I’m not much of a MMOer.

GM-Miyaw begins the ceremony, I guess.

Afterwards, everyone decides to line up in a row.  I’m guessing the other people have been taking pictures and stuff.

However, the GMs decides to have a surprise for us.  However, an even bigger surprise took place.  It was the sudden disconnection of my internet.  My modem stinks, I know…

But I got back on and guess who decided to show up next!

Sanrio’s most popular character shows up.

Now, I was hoping for the vows and stuff to happen.  You know, like in any other wedding.  Well, I suppose you can’t have an NPC say “I do.”  Melody only says “Welcome to Paris!!”

So tigerlyly pronounces Melody and I to be married and stuff.  And then there’s the kissing of the bride.  The best I was able to do if right-click on her.  The text box blocked the actual kiss, or at least a close approximation of a kiss.

Afterwards, I got various gifts from the Tiger Melody members.  The most notable gift happened to be Snowman seeds, which probably came from one of those Founder’s Beta events.  CalypsoCafe gets the dunce hat for giving me wolf skin. :P

So what happened to the other people that didn’t show up to the wedding of the year thus far?  They were hanging out in London causing a ruckus I bet.  That would explain why the GMs had to leave early.

Still, I want to thank the GMs for taking the time to witness something that I was crazy enough to do.  This will go down in history!  If it doesn’t… well at least this is something that those who’ve seen it as it was happening will not forget it anytime soon.

YEEAAAAHH!

I haven’t made any blog posts about my experiences in HKO yet, but I think I’ll start with this below comic that’s based on some sort of internet meme.

Wearing skunk glasses mini-comic.

I have taken screencaps of stuff a couple of days back, so I’ll get started uploading those after the HKO server is closed.

Greetings

Hey there, everyone.  You probably don’t know who I am, but I’m the one and only DeevFactor.  And now… you still don’t know who I am.

Well anyway, you probably noticed that I’ve been on Hello Kitty Online since the start of the Happy Hearts event.  So, I figure that I should start a blog that talks about some of the stuff that I’ve been doing and the stuff that happens around me.

As time passes, you’ll learn more about some guy on the internet, which is of course me.  But really, I’m not all that interesting. :P
