Snow

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

It snowed on Saturday. The grown up part of me was horrified, but the kid in me jumped up and down and tried to catch snowflakes on my tounge.

It started the second I walked out my door to go shopping at Target, (to pick up HK stuff in the $1 spot).  My sister who lives in the boonies was in a panic at the thought of being “stuck” in the middle of the city. My other sister who lives three blocks from me was in a different kind of panic because she wouldn’t be able to get to work if it snowed and that meant she wouldn’t get paid.  I tried to be sympathetic, but was so excited at the thought of a white Christmas, that I just kept shrieking with joy. My daughter kept chanting “stick, stick, stick”, I joined in.

By the time we got to the mall, I wanted to sing a different tune. It was cold as all get out and my shoes were soaked. I still loved the snow, but understood that I would love it more in the warmth of my home with some hot tea, a good book and some knitting.

But, the cold did not stop me from shopping. I found some more gifts for my daughter- I am through- She doesn’t need any more.  I am finished shopping. This is the first and last year I am buying so many gifts for people. I am disappointed in how caught up I got in the whole shopping thing. I usually make stuff for people, but I felt that since I had a little more to give, I could buy more this year. I have lost my spirit and joy of the season. That makes me sad.

But I did buy myself a new MP3 player and a two year Knit.1 subscription.

Merry X mas.
