Happy me

This weekend I was busy. A good kind of busy.

On Saturday, my daughter and I did a street clean up with my sorority and another sorority and fraternity. The street was surprisingly clean. The high school on the street has been closed for renovation all year, so there are not as many kids to litter. Which is sad to see that they (some not all)  have had such a negative impact on our nieghborhood.

After the clean up, we went to Starbucks to re-energize and then headed out to the Folklife festival. It was packed. I don’t think I have ever seen so many people there before. But it was fun, though my biggest pet peeve are people who stop in the middle of a path because they can’t figure out where to go. Move to the side folks so those who do know where they are going can go!

I found the booth selling the sexy banana silk yarn! I bought a skien of lime green that is pretty. I bought dark blue last year and I think the two should work together nicely.  I think I should make a bag. I looked through a book called One Skien Wonders, but didn’t see a pattern derserving of my perty yarn. I am going through the patterns on Knitting Pattern Central, and see contenders, but can’t make up my mind yet. Until I do, I shall savor the yarn.

I also found a nice sized rag rug made from recycled saris. It is mainly blue and purple, but has green and other colors in it along with some metallic gold in it. All this wonderfullness in one rug for $15!  I bought two from the same vendor two years ago and I love them. I went to Folklife looking for them last year, but there were none. I was kinda disappointed, but found something else to delight me.

On Sunday, I did as little as possible, my sister took my child to our mother’s house and I was ALL BY MYSELF. The last time I was alone, I was sick. That was not fun.

But I didn’t do anything special, I just laid in bed, read the Sunday paper and cleaned up a little. Oh, I knit a little of course.  I am a little upset that I have all this time for myself and I decide to clean up, but I noticed that I did it in such a short amount of time.

I left in the late evening to see my Soror’s husband’s ordination. It was a great ceremony and a very joyous event. I decided to get a movie after, and went home to eat Ezell’s and relax. Needless to say, I fell asleep on the movie. I am not as energetic as I would like to be.

The next day, I set out to enjoy my nerdy self. I went to the bookstore, grabbed a few knitting books and sat in the cafe with a triple chunk chocolate cookie and read in peace with my music for over an hour. That was NIIIIICCCCE. After that, I set out for the record store and bought some records for my ever growing collection. I found the SOS band, The Whispers and Roger. This is the music I grew up on. I also found a Dave Brubeck record for two bucks. I walked most of the way home and sat in my ‘throne’- a big ol orange chair and knit in between loads of laundry.  It was a perfect end to my day. By the time my daughter came home, I was relaxed and missing her a lot.

Wow! I thought you had lost your mind when you said you were tired, but that’s from a long time ago, wasn’t it! Haha! Yeah, I am glad to hear you are happy again! Keep it up!

Oh. Wow…I think that the page saying that you havea crush isn’t bad at all! I had one last year, and I think he liked me, but now he doesn’t and I think his friend liked me alll the TIME! Freaky…?
